Hmm, four months? Maybe not six feet deep yet.

I agree with the dual structure to maximise openness and recruitment.

Anyway, on the topic of FSXSE servers, I'm wondering if there is anyone that finds the audio on their server via the FSXSE built-in voice chat reliable and of quality. Personally, I find that it's constantly interrupted and can't decipher what people are saying. With regard to this, I want to suggest some things:
            1. Encourage people to use Teamspeak instead of FSXSE voicechat by providing more info in the Steam Edition server info textbox
            2. Disable voicechat on the server to prevent duality and improve performance
            3. Setup channels dedicated to each of the Steam Edition servers (NA, AU, etc.)
            4. Probably make the NA server the default TS channel to aid newbies in finding their way to voicecomms and ATC

While the server was/is packed with buzzing F/A-18s, the other day I did a few ATC lines, and suddenly now those kids that were playing pretend AirForce 1 are playing as controllers and giving authorisations. We must guide their enthusiasm, preferably over a voicechat system that works legibly.

Edit: as a note of personal bias I also demand the AU server be set to Brisbane International as the airport :P
Oh and are crashes enableable? While it's a little harsh, I think it would encourage the youngin's to fly straight, etc.

              Hi Champ,

Nice to know there is another YBBN local here

Let me try and answer your points for you:

              1. Encourage people to use Teamspeak instead of FSXSE voicechat by providing more info in the Steam Edition server info textbox
Both of the msFlights servers use the initial description screen to advise of our TS3 server. There are currently no tools to place a repeating message with such information once the session starts.

              2. Disable voicechat on the server to prevent duality and improve performance
The AU server has voice chat disabled. Due to a bug inside FSX people in the briefing room can still be heard. NA voice has been re-enabled after community and user requests on a trial basis.

              3. Setup channels dedicated to each of the Steam Edition servers (NA, AU, etc.)
              4. Probably make the NA server the default TS channel to aid newbies in finding their way to voicecomms and ATC
This has previously been discussed and considered and it was determined that the negative aspects of segregating the community outweighed any benefit. As a compromise we created the Free Flight A/B rooms for non-members to make use of.

While the server was/is packed with buzzing F/A-18s, the other day I did a few ATC lines, and suddenly now those kids that were playing pretend AirForce 1 are playing as controllers and giving authorisations. We must guide their enthusiasm, preferably over a voicechat system that works legibly.
This has been a challenge going back to the earliest days of multiplayer and will continue to be so. Those that desire to learn will find us.

Edit: as a note of personal bias I also demand the AU server be set to Brisbane International as the airport :P
Launceston was chosen as it is out of the way and is thus easier to separate the wheat from the chaff. Also a lower fram rate impact for the host machine.

Oh and are crashes enableable? While it's a little harsh, I think it would encourage the youngin's to fly straight, etc.
Yes but not on server side only Client side.

Hope this explanation helps a little!
