In a word, yes. Orbx is great at making their products very accessible. Everything comes with installers and is easy to set up, all the work is done for you. The products they make are also top notch, so with this covering the entire world, and now including landclass, the only thing you might want is mesh. This is assuming that Orbx's LC is of the same standards as their other products, of course, which I'm sure it will be.

Once FTXG is released, I as well as many, many others will be experimenting Im sure, to find what suits them best. The fact they are releasing these products in "layers" is really intriguing, as it allows for use of their textures without their LC/mesh, like their current regions. Given some of the other products out there, I wouldnt be surprised if certain configurations look better than current Orbx regions now.

Getting it all from one place should help out the major downside of FSX multiplayer being an abstracted experience where everybody is essentially flying a different flight simulator while just happening to share position data on a server. Having mismatched scenery among a group of pilots is pretty discouraging. It makes it feel much less like a shared adventure.

Can you explain "mesh" for a newb?

Mesh very simply is elevation data.

It will come in different resolutions. I have a bunch of the mesh from FSGenesis. North America is in 10 meter resolution. This means each elevation datapoint is 10 meters apart. Some of the default mesh in Africa is 612M resolution! So the lower the number, the more cliffs will look like cliffs and not like gently rolling hills.

Here's a post I made about mesh on the old forum that Kalo moved over: http://msflights.net/forum/showthrea...highlight=mesh

              Take. My. Money.

This is going to be the longest five weeks in simulation history.

Looks like I started with FSX at the right time. So far it's only cost me 30 bucks. 100 bucks will take care of the whole world.

This is the first time I considered buying a scenery package for FSX. I wasn't excited about the concept of buying a small scenery area and then having 99% of the group flights take place elsewhere. The fun of FSX is being able to fly anywhere. Being restricted to small chunks of nice looking areas while the rest of the planet looked like vomit wasn't particularly optimal.

Well it is definitely green! Phoenix isn't this green even in January.

They claim the lighting doesn't effect FPS ...it knocked 10 out of mine. It was enough to shut it off.

Overall it does look better but I don't think it is worth the 100 bucks.

Remember, if you don't have landclass to say what type of texture to put down, it's just using the FSX default.

But yeah, I fly around my hometown and it's a lot greener than real life, especially with the summer textures.
