Image signatures are disabled for Unverified users (new members who have registered who have not had their accounts approved by an admin, it helps cut down on spam).

Changed your user status and everything is working now eaceful:

on the VA homepage click "Pilot Center", then "Edit My Profile, Email and Avatar." By "signature background" theres a drop down list with 3 options. Try one then go back to Pilot Center and click "View My Badge". Thats what the one you selected looks like. When you find one you like copy the bottom line of code that says "BB code".

Then on the main forum site, click "Settings" in the top right. Click "Edit Signature" on the left then paste that line of code there, and save.

The same way as embedding images in forum posts. So to embed an image as all or part of your signature, enclose the image's URL between [img] and [/img] BB Code tags. Like mine.
