I want to do a flight similar to what storm did near where I live here in California. Here are some pictures of the area:

Well I'm sure you could add some landmarks (Hollywood sign, Las Vegas boulevard, Golden Gate Bridge, etc.) to fly past. It's also going to be a rather large flight. Starting from KSFO, then KTVL, then to KLAS is about 420 NM, not including waypoints/stops for "sightseeing". Make sure you have something fast (twin turboprop/small jets?). Just make sure you do your research before posting this flight. Know in detail what you want done, down to the last wind speed. If not, your idea of a fun flight could turn up a real mess.

Yea good points. What I might do is shorten it down, maybe just not go all the way to las vegas

          Sounds good Aaron. I'm interested!

I'll be posting a "How to make a Prospector-style flight plan" tutorial in a new thread very soon (probably tomorrow evening), in response to a request during the group flight from Robert Dunn. I'll put it in the Flight Plans and Events forum, so do watch for it if you're interested.

The tutorial will go through all the steps you need to do to create the kind of detailed flight plans we flew last night on the Colorado Prospector Tour group flight. It'll describe everything including researching the waypoints, planning the flight, getting the coordinates, editing the .PLN file, and test flying. You may find it useful when planning your flight before you put it on the msFlights calendar.
