  • FSX AI Traffic in free flight

I was recently in a situation where I couldnt participate in the teamspeak session. This break triggered me to revist the AI traffic project I had put aside. Here are some screenshots from only a few of the Military AI I just installed.

Very cool! However... Where do you park?

I sometimes wish that the AI air/airport traffic would follow into multiplayer, of course that would probably kill framerates completely.

I havent heard back from WarHawk, sent a couple pm's on the site here. No sense in me hopping back in to find myself in the same situation again. It was about "switching teamspeak servers" or something (in addition to my disrespectful comment), but I was trying to fly and didnt really read it.

I'm not comfortable using his Teamspeak server until then.

        Thanks though!

Yes when a mic is disabled it usually means that person is talking and listening in a different TeamSpeak it can also mean that you dont have a mic plugged in but you need to adress WarHawK if you dont have a mic. That is why he moved you.

While I realize this subject is on your minds, I'm going to recommend we stay on topic here. I'm not saying we should sweep it under the rug, but I'd hate for this thread to turn into something worse. Evil posted some cool screen shots of the AI traffic he's added to FSX, which I think is a cool subject.

Can you tell us any more about the traffic? Is it a package from someone else, or did you create it? What does it affect, just a specific base or several?

Yes, I have the same question as Waterman, Is it a package from someone else, or did you create it? What does it affect, just a specific base or several?

Let me start by saying there is a little work to modify the flight plans to work with FSX, as they were created for 2004, and the Military models require manual installation, unless you have a tool that will do it for you. I confirm all these packages work, so long as all flight plans are formatted properly and placed in the proper location, as well as the models. If anyone wants help, please reach out before you destroy something! Backup your FSX for good measure.

If you have the room somewhere, I would suggest downloading everything you want FIRST, because this stuff is due to disappear, and I don't see it published elsewhere. I did this all in one fell swoop. If you follow my steps in order, I can save you some time. If not, you will be doing this all day long.

Create two temp directories inside your downloads folder, name them MIAW and WOAI. Place your downloads in there, respectively. http://www.militaryaiworks.com/ and go here as well http://www.world-of-ai.com/packages.php.

"Extract all files" for each .zip and then Run the executables contained in each. Install to the same temp folder IE, C:\USERS\YOU\DOWNLOADS\MIAW\packagename.

Once you have all the WOIA and MAIW installers completed, install the MAIW aircraft models manually (copy/paste), or via third party application. If you need assistance installing add-on aircraft, please reach out. If you have installed freeware aircraft manually before, you should feel comfortable with the contents and what to do with them.

and last but most important, conversion of flight plans.

The application I use AI Flight Planner Free download from Simviation http://simviation.com/1/search?submi...lanner&x=0&y=0

                Install it and run.

Flight plan data source: Go to your MIAW temp folder for the package, and then Scenery\World\Scenery. Find the Traffic_trafficname.blg or you might come across Flightplans_.txt (which will then be accompanied by the required aircraft.txt and airports.txt, and these three compiled make a Traffic BGL).

So long as "Target Version" is set to FSX, it should properly place the newly compiled and formatted traffic_*.bgl file FSX\Scenery\World|Scenery. You may get some compile reports about flights, just click ok, compile and save. I personally use the check mark "append FSX" so I know for sure an FSX traffic bgl from old.

Do this process again for the WOAI flight plans, which are in your FSX\Scenery\World\Scenery folder thanks to the WOIA installer.

Let me know if you have trouble.

                Enjoy.

Cool thanks for the instructions! I'll give it a shot here in the next couple days. So looking at the AI packages themselves it appears to be based on either a single or a select list of airports, not a global AI type setting.

That is definitely true! WOAI has announced they are completely shutting down on April 30th! So you have 3 months before it's all gone.
