When I first read it I also assumed it was going to be a paid DLC but I was corrected by an internal source shortly afterwards. I do have suspicions on who might be doing the modelling of the DA42 but that is still to be confirmed

As I have stated elsewhere here, I'm in. The pre-order price of US$ 15 is much less than I was expecting. As the DFS hangar will be so sparse upon release, the DA-42 will be a welcome addon.
Responsible and informed rumor-mongering, shear conjecture and educated speculation would be sincerely appreciated here. The sources on AVSIM forum have been being proven inaccurate (but still provide a humorous diversion). The official discussions on Dovetail's outlets and FSXInsider forums are currently bare of much specific actionable information.
The software's storage available requirement of 40 Gb is much more than I had anticipated. As I run servers for our community, I have very unenhanced (as in nothing added) installations of our popular dedicated multiplayer titles on the several machines used as hosts. The Program Files (x86) portions of the FSX:Steam, FSX Acceleration classic and P3Dv3.2 installations here display abut 16, 17 and 18 Gb respectively.
How would you, the DFS interested members of our community, feel about yet another dedicated sub forum on this topic under Flight Simulation/Simulators forum here on our forum website?Respects, Bob ...

I'm betting a lot of the 40 GB is due to them using the textures from FTX Global as the base textures for the whole world.

I don't think a sub forum will be necessary as it will not have multiplayer. I think if demand calls for a sub forum after release, we should talk about it again.
The size of Flight School is actually a good thing in my opinion. GTA 5 is well over 60GB and growing. P3D is probably above 20GB installed fresh. As long as the added content is optimized It only means good.
Waterman, I am calling them Flight School and DFS: Dovetail Flight Simulator. I predict when DFS comes out, Flight school will hardly be talked about.

Thank you for the share, sir. I also got a great deal of information out of another video that recently interviews the software's Creative Director, Stephen Hood. Listen to what Mr. Hood has to say as well as those questions asked and not so completely answered. It's a special edition of the popular flight sim video series, Novawrap. The sync is off so just listen and don't distract your train of thought trying to watch lips move. Jordan King's interview of Mr. Hood was also informative but different.

Why demo a flight school that you are aiming to attract pottential pilots to with an Xbox controller alarm bells ringing a little there. Also I can't be the only one thinking that my fsx and flight replicas super cub is identical in looks. It's all going to come down to how the 64bit engine adds to what I've got now. Interesting times ahead.sigpic

Plus at the end of the day you can fly FSX and P3D with a 360 controller :highly_amused:Per Ardua Ad Astra

You can fly fsx with a Xbox controller but why would you? Maybe I think differently but I wanted to showcase a product I'd want it to look it's best especially if as they say it's aimed to get people to learn to fly properly from no knowledge to a competent virtual pilot. I understand the audience was gamers but if it was me I'd have at minimum a joystick.sigpic

They have also released a few pics of the Cherokee, which actually looks really good. I think I'm going to like this new sim.
