  • The Official msFlights.net Merry Christmas Thread 2015

    I thought I would open this as we are fast approaching the day when the Big Man from up North is going to go around delivering.

    I want to wish everyone at msFlights a Very Merry Christmas and a Brilliant New Year.

    For me this year has been a tumultuous one for me on a personal level, some of you know the details. One thing that has always given me support and a great deal of pleasure is coming here and enjoying the community that we have fostered. All of you have helped me progress and become what I would hope is a better more rounded Human being.

    We are an incredibly diverse and supportive group of individuals. I am proud to be part of this community and all of its denizens. We all provide unique components to our world.

    Professionally I have had great opportunities arise in the world of flight simulation, and thanks to encouragement and support of you In have grown in skill and love of what we all do.

    So once again I would like to thank you all for being Amazing people and wish you all the best and remember to take some time with your real life family as well as your virtual one.

    Take care and Merry Christmas and a Preposterous new year!

    Safe Skies

    As Christmas is a time when we like to reflect on the things that we are thankful for, I'll take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to everyone here at MSFlights that has been so welcoming and pleasant since I joined about 6 months ago. Something truly special happens here in this flight community and it should be recognized. I'd also like to extend a big 'thank you' to everyone that keeps the show running, in both the general community and VA, and to those that volunteer their time planning, organizing, and executing all of the group flights. I'm looking forward to a great 2017 with the MSFlights community. Merry Christmas!

      I'm looking forward to a great 2017, too, but let's get through 2016 first, TK.

      Happy Holidays and Happy Flying to one and all!
      Take the time, a second to soar; for soon after, beckons a second more.

        haha It took me a second to see what I did there. I was reviewing financial planning spreadsheets for 2016/2017 when I typed that and got ahead of myself. I'm going to leave it for good measure, but, yes, I'm looking forward to 2016 as well! Happy holidays!

              I'm thankful many of you let me re-live my glory days on the ramp and are very forgiving of my less than stellar flying skills. I have fun here.

              And as we say where I came from: Mele Kalikimaka.........Merry Christmas

                        Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
                        Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
                        The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
                        In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
                        The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
                        While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
                        And mamma in her ’kerchief, and I in my cap,
                        Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap,
                        When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
                        I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
                        Away to the window I flew like a flash,
                        Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
                        The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
                        Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
                        When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
                        But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
                        With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
                        I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
                        More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
                        And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
                        “Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
                        On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
                        To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
                        Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
                        As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
                        When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
                        So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
                        With the sleigh full of Toys, and St. Nicholas too.
                        And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
                        The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
                        As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
                        Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
                        He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
                        And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
                        A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
                        And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
                        His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
                        His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
                        His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow
                        And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
                        The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
                        And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
                        He had a broad face and a little round belly,
                        That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.
                        He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
                        And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
                        A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
                        Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
                        He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
                        And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
                        And laying his finger aside of his nose,
                        And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
                        He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
                        And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
                        But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
                        “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.”

                        Merry Christmas every one and have a good new year too eh.

                            Merry Xmas everyone. Maybe we will run into Santa while we are flying around. First one to get a screenshot in flight with him wins! We will be accepting all other screen shots as well.
