  • Changes to the Teamspeak server

Many of you have noticed some changes on the Teamspeak server. The changes are the result of discussions among the staff in recent weeks. The issue addressed was managing the Teamspeak operations so that the people showing up with the intent of being disruptive had the least amount of ability to do that. To that end:

    • We have started using a level in the security settings that allows slightly higher privileges. These levels are called “server groups” by the Teamspeak software. Everyone has been assigned to this group that is referred to as “Member” or the “Member server group”. That is why you now see an airliner icon to the right of your name. It indicates assignment to the Member server group.

    • The structure/layout of channels has been changed to allow access to the majority of the channels only to persons that are members. Someone who signs on who is not a member will not be able to go to GP1 and scream into the mic. They will only have access to the main lobby and a couple of side channels.

    • We are currently working on a specific set of guidelines that will be used by staff members to determine whether or not a new user will be assigned membership status. For the moment staff members are doing so using their best judgement. Today alone we’ve had several new people sign on, staff members determine that they were here to participate not disrupt and within minutes be given status as a Member.

    • There changes should mean very little to you as far as how you manage your time at msFlights. We certainly hope that you find that the changes make it easier to have a pleasant time and not have to put up with disruptive music players & screamers.

Should you have any thoughts, questions, or concerns don’t hesitate to post them here in the forums so that all can see the discussion. You can of course just simply talk with any staff member as well.
