I explored FaceTrackNoIR a while ago... It definitely works, and I could see it benefiting many users. It has a very nice interface with lots of options and a great visual feedback mechanism to let you see what it sees. I definitely encourage experimenting with it.
My own decision, however, was to abandon it. Personally, I found it a bit sluggish and imprecise; it had an overall negative impact on my pilotage (embarrassingly evident in that video). Admittedly, I could have grown more accustomed to it if I had given it more than an afternoon's test.
Webcam used was a Microsoft LifeCam Cinema mounted on the monitor shelf between my two monitors' bases (pretty much straight-on and eye-level).
Take the time, a second to soar; for soon after, beckons a second more.
I agree with wingman. I tried it before i had track ir. It was a neat idea, it didnt work well for me and takes some cpu away. Some may like it but thiere is a significant difference between that and track ir. Track ir w/pro clip has been worth every penny!
