Welcome pilots! Now this does not mean that membership is closed. Anyone may participate in the group provided they are willing to comply with group rules, which are explained in this post......
In our meeting this is what we talked about.
1. We decided to decide on a name for the group. As such, there is a poll in the forums with the four names we choose to pick from. so please answer the poll so we can have a name.
2. We decided that there will be 3 sub-groups, Over-Watchers, Belly-Jocks, and Bird-Dogs, with each group responsible for a different aspect of the storm..
- The Over-Watchers group will fly above the storm to monitor the activity of the storm and the location of members in the other two groups. They will be responsible for taking photos of the storm from above as guiding the other two groups to the location of the storm activity.
- The Belly-Jocks will fly into the storm and will be responsible for recording wind speeds and photographing the storm from the eye.
- Bird-Dogs will fly under the storm and provide visual confirmation of storm patterns, Assist Belly-Jocks by watching the bottom of the storm to ensure that jocks to not get disoriented and descend unintentionally. They will also take photos of the storm from below.
3. We decided on which Aircraft we want to use. They are Officially:
- P-3c Orion "Hurrican Hunter", Downloadable Here
- Captain Sim C-130, Payware can be purchased Here
- Antanov AN-12, Downloadable Here
- E-1B Tracer, Downloadable Here
- Cera Sim UH-60 Blackhawk, Payware can be purchased Here
- T-6 Texan, It has been determined that the T-6 we have been using and distributing is actually payware. We are looking for a payware version.
- 300 Twin Otter, Downloadable Here
- CL-415, Yet to find a suitable version. In progress....
4. We decided that only the Over-watch group will have Weather Radar and they would use that and traffic radar to guide the other groups to the storm.
5. Finally, we agreed to meet on Tuesday for a test of the weather system.
If you want to be a part of this group, you must get a hold of one of the members listed above to be included in Tuesdays flight. You must let one of the above members know at least 24 hours prior to the flight. This way, we have the time to explain how the group functions and so that we ensure that the new member has all the proper downloads. At no time are we to do these things during one of our events. If your interest is expressed within 24 hours of the event, you will have to wait until the next event to fly. Our flights will be locked with a password that will be distributed to members only. There is a good reason for this. We decided that we want to keep unneeded chatter out of these group flights. This means that we do not want people popping in saying things like, Where are you flying, what are you in, so forth and so on. It will be crucial to the success of our purpose that we communicate with each other.
We decided that our comms will be chatter free and professional in style upon departure of the flight and will stay that way until we land.
If you have any questions, let me know. See you Tuesday!
