  • Multiplayer Do's & Dont's

While this is from FlightGear.org a freeware flight sim, this still holds 100% true in FSX other than the taxi to gate then start MP, however you always want to start in a parking location rather than the active runway. As harsh as this may sound, if you want to fly with us and many other groups in FSX/FS2004 you will need to be mature. Immature actions will likely get you banned and it also annoys everyone else around you. If you are new to flight sim in general and are not sure what to do, feel free to ask our members and we will be happy to get you up to speed on how flight simming and in a basic sense how real flight operations work (its about as difficult as getting your drivers license). I hope this helps everyone out and I hope to see you guys in the air having fun soon!

Oh I see FlightGear is a SIM not a site. I just thought FlightGear.net made the video. :stupid:

Can you please tell me how to start in a parking area and not the runway? I seem to spawn randomly in the air, runway, or the parking area during group flights. If the parking areas are full then what?

My personal feeling is that it's a crapshoot. You can try to pick a start location, say GA ramp 4 for small planes, then wait to load in only to be spawned in mid air. Rather than exit back out and have to load again I'll Ctrl+Shift+O and Ctrl+Shift+F behind someone who is on the ground (after making sure it is clear behind them), make a quick & dirty landing and get into position, or if the flight is close to departing just circle until everyone takes off. I think it's just too much of a pain to go out and back in just to try a different parking area only to be spawned in the air again.

you can also hit Y for slew mode, then push f2 till you hit the ground, then move your joystick to slew to where you want. Usually when you push Y again to exit slew, it puts you at 0kts in a stationary position (just make sure you hit f2 until you hit the ground completely).

I always had problems using slew mode. I'd hit Y and my aircraft would start spinning uncontrollably. So after reading Kalo's post I thought I would do a quick search and found this thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/336883-...-in-slew-mode/

So I'll try using Ctrl+K next time and see if that takes care of it for me, and possibly go further defining different controls to try to fix the problem. Hopefully if anyone else was experiencing the spinning this will help.

Oh, I thought the spinning was normal. Thanks Waterman.
