If you call up the SimLink code F18 in XSquawkBox while flying in X-Plane, it will try and force it to another code such as F18H. It will not allow F18 by itself. This results in other pilots seeing their default aircraft and not necessarily an F/A 18.
The problem arises because XSquawkBox uses ICAO document 8643 as its reference, and SimLink codes are only derived from those. The three letter F18 code is not included in document 8643 though several four letter codes are.
To fix this, an extra line must be added to XSquawkBox's copy of document 8643. To get a copy of an already modified file, please go to Storm's Hangar (https://is.gd/StormsHangar), then to the X-Plane 11 section, and download and install the mod F18 XSquawkBox SimLink mod.zip. Be sure to read the README first, which includes installation instructions.
