  • IRIS products on Sale! $10 Each!

    http://www.pcaviator.com/store/manuf...ufacturerid=57
    http://www.pcaviator.com/store/manuf...acturerid=149/

We know the F-15 Mudhen is multiplayer friendly...

Be sure to check the list as IRIS has planes that are both good and bad for packet flooders: https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?...5865&app=Excel

And for OZ they are $10 AU from the AU store as well... Not sure which side the exchange rate is better on.

The sale is also available through the IRIS online store for $10 AU: http://www.irissimulations.com.au/ols/, and FlightSimStore.com

So I have the A-10 in my cart... anyone seen how it is in multiplayer? Anyone know how their F-14 compares to Dino's?

And even though it doesn't look server friendly I'm thinking of the BD-5. Gotta fly what Bond flies! (I do wish I could find a BD-10 somewhere)

Going to do a quick review of the Iris aircraft I have flown in hopes it will allow you guys to buy smarter.

A-10 Warthog - Must have, highly recommend it. It is server friendly and a joy to fly, though does come with a few annoying sound effects (high g breathing etc). Grab this one if no others!

F-15E Mudhen - Another must have. Also server friendly. Lots of great armaments and mostly everything in the cockpit works, from night vision to flares. Air to Air and Air to Ground weaponry is available and useable (though Air to Air stuff will get you kicked for spawning "vehicles" like an AIM 9 missle.

C-27 Spartan - The baby Hercules! Another server friendly aircraft that I would recommend. Lots of fun to fly, pretty technical, great speed and handling, plenty of eye candy. Highly recommend this one as well.

BD-5 - It's fun for about 20 minutes, after that, it loses its appeal in my opinion. Yeah, its neat having something so small go so fast, and it is fun, don't get me wrong, but it is a terrible packet flooder, requires an entire continent's length to land safely, and generally has no "useful" features aside from a nice canopy. At 10 bucks, I guess its worth it, but you wont be flying this one in multiplayer!

Christen Eagle - Awesome little aerobatic aircraft, and has an amazing sound set. First thing you should do in this aircraft is go to Tower view and listen to some flybys, they did a great job on them. I think this is also another server friendly aircraft, but dont take my word for it! I recommend this over the Prometheus, for sure.

Prometheus - A modified Pitts S-2 with a silly paint job. Not much to say about this other than "Go grab Alabeo's"

Avro Vulcan - Awesome bomber, is server friendly, and very technical aircraft. Definitely prefer this over other bombers like Virtavia B1B, AlphaSim B2 etc. Not a whole lot to see out of the cockpit, but it is a bomber, so what do you expect! Pick this up if you are a fan of the aircraft or big bombers in general, great plane.

F-14 - Have only flown in FS9 version in FSX. Would love to hear some thoughts on the FSX F-14.

F-22 - Not bad, but is a packet flooder. Also, the visual quality is not up there with other Iris products, particularly the "Cripes A Mighty" paint is very low resolution and full of jaggies. Cockpit is nothing special either, imo. Skip this one.

I did pull the trigger on the A-10 and the BD-5. I at least went into the BD-5 knowing it's not server friendly.

          Thanks for the quick mini-reviews!

And Kalo, not sure what to say... the links do still work for me.. If you go to PCAviator.com and on the left side select Manufacturers there are 2 entries for IRIS Simulations on that list that link to their products.

On their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/irissimulations) where they announced the sale they commented that the sale would last "until the new year, to allow those that are broke for Christmas, to at least get some joy in 2013".

I may have to take a chance on their F-14 if I get some Christmas cash. (Along with the C-27 and the Vulcan)

I don't want to speak for them, but I know Warhawk, Wingman and Jcom are fans of the C-27. It is pretty popular amongst our group, I havent heard anyone say anything bad about it.

Waterman, just tested the FSX native F-14 Tomcat, everything is fine! Took it up for about 15 minutes while watching the packets, and while I did have an initial spike caused by god knows what, she seems to be pretty stable and within the range for allowable packets

So do you like the model? Any comparisons to Dino's? I do see IRIS is working on a F-14D as well that hasn't been released yet. Well, the sale goes for a while so I have time to think about it. Thanks for checking it out on the server!
