  • GOONEY BIRD: Winter Holiday Tour (Boxed)

This is intended to be a group flight using Manfred Jahn's C-47 version 2. We prefer FSX Boxed, but it could you could also use STEAM in parallel (no FSD this time).

This is a last minute flight and the flight plan is a bit simplistic. We start where Lazer finished his Flying Fantasy Football group flight.

Do download it! However, if it's your first time flying it, pay constant attention to engine condition. They're easy to overstress.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ENGINES ARE OVERSTRESSED?
Check the clipboard (Shift+3) regularly and ensure the figures circled in red below don't change to a small percentage number.

HOW DO I AVOID OVERSTRESSING THE ENGINES?
The easiest way to do this is to keep your engine RPM out of the yellow arc, i.e. below 2500 rpm, by reducing your prop setting.

      WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY OVERSTRESS?
If the percentage gets to zero, your engines will fail catastrophically.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY ENGINES FAIL?
You won't be able to restart them. They are too damaged. Make an emergency landing. Then restart FSX. You may find your hydraulics have failed and you can't lower your landing gear. If so, you will need to manually lower the gear in order to make a safe emergency landing. There is a manual hydraulic pump lever between the pilots' seats and repeat activation will slowly restore some pressure to the system.
