The second of our two Gooney Bird flights, this time through the Tar Heel state. (Next week we'll change aircraft type.) In a break with tradition, we'll fly the entire flight in North Carolina and not drop over the border to our next state (South Carolina) at the end. This is because our target destination, Asheville, is a very pleasant OrbX airport and worth exploring, either after this flight or before next week's flight, if you get the chance and have FTX Global installed.
Week 14: North Carolina KPGV>KRDU>KGSO>KCLT>KAVL FLIGHT PLAN
Flight plan in tabular form, flight maps and airport diagrams here. CRUISE Speed: 170 knots Altitude: 2,000 - 5,000 ft. AIRCRAFT Gooney Birds (Douglas C-47 Skytrain). We use version 2 of Manfred Jahn's C-47 that was published in October 2013. Please do not bring the DC-3 or the Basler BT-67. WEATHER Server specified default is OK but may not be best. Recommended: Real-world live weather generators, e.g. FSrealWX lite or Active Sky Next. FSrealWX lite is freeware available in our TeamSpeak file browser. Why not try it? Active Sky Next is payware, but currently on sale 20% off. I will be using Active Sky Next. SCENERY Default OK.
