  • Around the World/ Back in Time continues: 1325 Bologna Italy (he said....)

Hi guys! Looks like its time for another night of delivering cargo in those majestic Herkey-Birds!

Thursday night we will be delivering supplies, food, and general cargo to 1325 Bologna Italy. This seemingly normal cargo delivery is actually to hide the fact that we are secretly carrying a fake oaken bucket and worthless trinkets which we will switch for the real artifacts once in Bologna.

Thursdays flight plan is as follows:

    LFKS Corsica Departure
    LIRF Rome
    LIPE Bologna
    LSZS Samedan

As always with these Around the World flights the preferred aircraft is the timeless Captain sim C130 Hercules, but feel free to use any cargo prop that can maintain 260 KIAS at around 15,000 ft. Please do Not bring a jetliner to this event because they stick out like a sore thumb and are a distraction. Many suitable free planes are available from Storms skydrive including the excellent Antinov AN-12 and Howard.

Storm was kind enough to document which are the best planes from his OneDrive for these "Around the World" cargo flights. This should help you decide.

There are 4 suitable airplanes. The An-32 is in Modern oddities. The others are in the Vintage Hangar:
    • An-12 Most similar to C-130. Most extras (airbrake, autothrottle, paradrop). Russian annotations. Most difficult to fly.
    • An-32 Most frame-rate friendly. Best cockpit model. Easy to fly except long spool time. Needs refueling on long flights.
    • Howard 500 Easy for piston engine pilots. Best climber. Tail-dragger. Performance tails off at altitude. Poorest frame rates.
    • C-119 Boxcar Easiest to fly.
      • Re-engined (French) variant: Faster. Normal climb rates.
      • Normal engine variants: Slower. Half the climb rate so gets left behind on short-medium length flights.

The server will be reset to GMT+12 before the flight. That should allow for another dusk landing at the final airport assuming a 2 hour event.

Plan on a server reset around 0100z or so....

Karl, you are as stated, THEE man! I was observing the FSOpen map terminator and preparing to fix daylight and I will now leave that to you.

DDD, you needed for a forum administrator to reassign your forum group FROM registered user TO verified user for you to have forum powers to click and post hotlinks. I have just made that forum user upgrade and you now have the permissions you require. Try it again now.

Just a reminder about tonight's flight:

We will be departing from LFKS @ 9pm EST to transport our special cargo to Bologna Italy, on the eve of the War of the Oaken Bucket.

Hope to see you all there!
                Happy landings,
