► Last Wednesday we delivered the Lockheed Constellation C-69's to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan AFB, and then took the local bus (exact change please!) over to Tucson for our layover in a "reasonably" priced motel near the airport.
► In the morning, SHAFPA has a contract with a high end celebrity air service company for us to fly a number of well known comedians from Tucson to Telluride Colorado for the Telluride Comedy Festival in their fleet of Howard 500s. Since most of our pilots are really secret comedians, we will be trying out our material on our captive audience during the flight. When we land at Telluride, we will then vote for the best comedy line we heard from our amateur pilot/comedians. The winner will be given the "privilege" of leading the next CONNIE FLIGHT.
► Please click on the event banner below to download the Howard 500 from Storm's Vintage hangar.
► After we drop off our bunch of comedians (not our pilots!) at the comedy festival, we will continue on to Denver with some skiers returning from a 10-day ski vacation in the mountains surrounding Telluride. Some people have all the luck!
► Our flight plan has us leaving Tucson in the late morning, and coming into Telluride from the western approach. We will then continue to Denver, returning to the airport where our Lockheed Constellation's have been waiting on the ground for us.
► Navigation Methods: During this group flights series we not have used GPS navigation which was not originally available for the CONNIE. In fact the P3D CONNIE many of us use does even have a GPS. I would recommend we continue to do this in the Howard 500 even though it has a GPS that can be used for navigation.
