I downloaded the MD-83 from this website.

I really like it. It has an FMC that really works. Not like the PMDG, but it has a manual for it. The link is here.

I flew in this type often as a passenger. Now I feel like I am the pilot flying others around in it. Heh, just a little funny.:p

The airplane has a good exterior texture. And it does not work with anything other than FSX SP2.

Most of the controls in the cockpit work. They are quite easy to use.
I took a flight with D-1Y and Urban8, among others, from EGSS to EIDW. I found that the FMC was not as easy to use as I thought. There are a couple of quirks that I will mention. First one is that when the FMC calculates the VNav, it enters the ground speed instead of the indicated air speed. The work around for that is to enter each leg's speed manually, which is easy though time consuming depending on how many legs there are. The other thing is that it is a bit difficult to read the manual and get it to do what it says it can do.

To be fair, the FMC was made by someone other than the airplane modeler.

So all in all, I would give this airplane an 83 out of 100. Just my $0.92 worth.
