  • Why I'm Here

    I don't know about you, which is why I'm asking, but I'm here because the community adds a ton of variety and interest to my simming. Coming up with my own inspiration for flights worked for a dozen years or so, but sooner or later, I needed a group of dissimilar but like-minded hobbyists to mix things up a bit (a whole lot!).

    So, what about you?

    Let me know by picking any of the options in the poll that apply to you, and if you picked other, I'd love to hear about it below!

    Other = (i) friendships, and (ii) the mature, relaxed and open attitude that's our hallmark.

        Well its what Bob Dunn said ... oops he didn't say anything yet, so its what Storm said. I would like to be here more often, but real life has resulted in me being here less often.

        Simply put, I'm here for the FUN!

              A couple of interesting observations with these numbers:

              - Of those that voted (thanks guys!), giving support is more of a reason for being here than getting it. Gotta love that!

              - When there's nothing aviation-related to talk about, tell a joke! They're apparently more interesting than conversations about boring real-world stuff.

              - The group flights are really why we're here (we already knew that), but look around the next time you're flying in one... chances are good that lots of the other pilots also host their own group flights!

              Thanks for participating in my random little poll. I'd like to leave it open just in case there are more people who want to select their favorite reasons for being here, or for PRdude; he gets to vote twice since everybody loves PRdude.

                  "Random simulated aviation discussions" 14 (63.64%)
                  This is the second most popular vote. And it explains a lot. I'd always wondered how to simulate an aviation discussion at random, and all I'd needed to do was look around me. Of course now I wonder where the real aviation discussions are taking place. Ah, I know... among the professional pilots... :highly_amused:

                    I think it's something like:

                    WHILE i <> 0
                    SimulateDiscussion(Topic.Aviation)
                    i=RANDBETWEEN(MinParticipantIntelligence,MaxPartic ipanttIntelligence)
                    END

                    Of course, this means that the simulation of random aviation discussions ceases once the collective intelligence of all participants equals (or is less than!) zero.
