  • Getting Started at MSFlights.Net

    Greetings new comers.

We're glad that you've navigated your way through cyberspace to stumble upon our humble community. It is a pleasure for MSFlights.net to be called home by individuals from the flight community from all over the world. If this is your first time here, and would like to become involved with our community, below are some steps that you should take in order to get started.

    Teamspeak
    What is Teamspeak?
Teamspeak 3 is a voice chat application that allows users that are connected to a server to communicate clearly and efficiently. We have been using it well over a year now, and it is not required to be a part of msFlights.net, however we always encourage new members to join us in teamspeak so we have the opportunity to get to know you. We will be able to answer all of your further questions on teamspeak personally, or on this forum, so please, don't be bashful.

How do I get Teamspeak and join you guys?
It's simple. First, go to this web address: http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Once you're there, choose to download the Windows Client 32-bit or 64-bit download, and press the purple download button.
Install whatever you download like any other piece of software for a computer, and open it up. It will run as Teamspeak 3.

Once you have teamspeak 3 open, there are options across the top of the application, much like any microsoft windows header for any application. Choose Bookmarks, and click Manage Bookmarks. Click Add Bookmark.
You'll be able to enter in custom information on the bottom half of the bookmarks window.
    Type in the following information.

    Label: MsFlights.net
    Address: TS3.msflights.net
Nickname: your custom username goes here

Leave the rest as it is or blank, including server password.
After you have finished this, click apply, and click okay.
    (reference red arrows)

Select bookmarks again from the top of Teamspeak 3, and you will see lower on the drop down the bookmark you just added - MsFlights.net
Simply left click, and you will connect into our teamspeak 3 server.

Connecting to Flight Simulator X Session
Multiplayer is not down for FSX, but gamespy is. Gamespy was the front-end portion of the FSX multiplayer experience. However, with Gamespy going down, we have remain unaffected. The way we do this is with Direct Connecting.

If you would like to direct connect to an FSX Server (the only way to play multiplayer now), simply go to the multiplayer tab on Flight Simulator X, on the right hand side of the Connection Options, you will see Local network (LAN). Enter a username there, and click sign-in on the bottom right of the application. Once you're logged in to multiplayer, on the bottom right of the application, you'll see the button that says Connect Directly.
Click it, and type in: 71.231.12.143

That IP will be saved in there unless you choose to replace it with a different server.
That is how we currently connect into flight simulator X.
*edit* - Please check in TeamSpeak for the correct IP address(es) of our server(s). Sometimes it is different from what you see above.
