  • New to MSFlights

    Hello,

    My name is Kenny.

I have ran my own server for about 8 to 9 years. At this point I'm about tired of members having port issues and servers that are down for one reason or an other (DafSim :blue.

I'm looking at possibly shutting my stuff down and coming over the MSFlight, let some else take the wheel so to speak. We have members that use FS9, FSX, P3d and X-plane.

Only a few of my members have ever used live ATC, most are VFR pilots, some real world pilots.

I also have a virtual airline Classic American Airways http://www.fsvintageair.com//America.../aa_index.html However this is not that important.

Anyways hello to the staff and members of MSFlights,
    Kenny Fox.

    Hi Kenny,
Sounds like a fine group of folks. We'd be happy to see you around. Did any of you ever use "Microsoft Flight!"?
Take the time, a second to soar; for soon after, beckons a second more.

Warm greetings to FSVintageAir community and you personally, Mr. Fox. Please have a look around our facilities and visit our TeamSpeak and see if what we have to offer would be amenable to you and your members. From what I read on your website, we are very similar. If I see a gamertag that appears to be you or any gamertag that might choose to temporarily prefix their name with something like [FSV] to identify affiliation with your community, I'll attempt to verbally welcome and answer any questions. Many other tenured members and badged staff will also be happy to speak with you. Welcome.
          Respects, Bob ...

Welcome Kenny! Lately we have been using some cross platform software similar to fsHost that lets different versions of flight simulator fly together. It seems to work quite well, here is a setup guide if you are interested: http://msflights.net/forum/showthrea...nk-Quick-start

Hello Kenny, and welcome to MSFLIGHTS. I'm sorry to hear that you are shutting down your server. I'm sure it was very hard for you to do so. I would like to welcome you to MSFLIGHTS and would like to let you know that you are more than welcome as well as your members. Our ATC community has been pretty sparse as of late but, I think with building interest to fly in vatsim and just connection with other pilots to fly more realistically is what is going to make this simulator push forward. As you make your transition to MSFLIGHTS if you need any help please feel free to ask anytime. Our Tuesday and Friday night events are usually the busiest so if you'd like to meet anyone pop on in and say hi. Again welcome to MSFLIGHTS glad to have you aboard.

First a thank you for the welcome.

                    A quick question, please.

Is there a way to change multiplayer aircraft in VPilot? I was flying the Antonov AN2, but I was showing up as an Airbuss to other pilots.

It is related to the type code you enter into Vpilot and if the other pilots have a matching AI model for that type.

If they do not it will display as the vpilot default substitution of an A321

                      Example:

You are flying the Default King Air 350.

                      You enter type code K350.

You will be seen by everyone as an A321 as the type code is not matched by vpilot's matching rules.

Enter in B350 and everyone will see you as the King Air 350.

In your scenario use something that is close to what you are flying and use that type code.

                      Example:

                      You are flying the AN2.

The closest would be the DC3 so you enter DC3 as your type code.

Everyone will see you as a DC3 which while it is not your aircraft it is closest in size and performance from the default list.

                      Hope this helps

Hi, Mr. Fox. This appearance of aircraft type is a function of a code set in vPilot software, connect tab, Type Code block parameter. From the .jpeg picture in the model matching rule set download denoting AI displayed aircraft approximations, select the closest type of aircraft construction and appearance to what you are actually flying. The other pilots flying with you will also have to have SimLink model matching installed and properly configured. The complete download and instructions for SimLink model matching rules appears in this in SimLink instructional post here:

                        http://msflights.net/forum/showthrea...ll=1#post20759

Please seek further TeamSpeak assistance if you cannot get your AC type correctly displayed to your SimLink pilot friends.

[EDIT] Oops, Posted while Novawing was answering same question above.

ya, you can pick what you show up as when you click connect on vpilot by putting in one of the type codes from this page that is similar to the aircraft you are flying: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/.../T_C_list6.jpg
