  • "Type Codes" on FSD

    Dear fellow aviators

I would like to remind everybody to use only the "Type Codes" in the Vpilot from a Default Aircraft_ms list. on FSD.
The reason is that there are possibly hundreds if not thousands of "Type Codes" of different aircraft, and to create rule sets for all of them is impossible task, there are also often mistakes made in inputting or different existing type codes, example could be Piper Cherokee, that often is called PA28 or P28A or P28 ....
For these reasons we have developed this very elegant and reliable system to represent your aircraft to others.
Please follow precisely "Type Code" from that list only, to show to others as proper aircraft.

Here is the link to the default aircraft "Type Code" list.

I suggest to keep it handy and every time you are getting ready to connect, have a look and see which aircraft looks closest.
If you make a mistake, it is very easy to correct.
Just, without stopping your flight, go to Vpilot, Disconnect, Connect again and in the process of connecting put proper "type code".

For example if you are flying Lancair Legacy, the best match is "M20T", because it is low wing, small GA with retractable landing gear, but if you're flying same type of aircraft with non retractable landing gear use "PA28" which is the closest.
For a special group flights and special events we will be creating custom rule sets and offering "Type Codes" for this aircraft.
please remember to not use them after the event, in case somebody did not install it.
You can always communicate with others, to find out if they have same rule sets, by going to the Vpilot "Settings/Model Matching" and looking on the left top site at the list.

There seem to be also some confusion about "Default Model" in Vpilot "Settings/Model Matching".
It is only used if somebody makes a mistake or puts the "Type Code" that does not exist in your Model Matching sets.
