  • Wikipedia Page for msFlights.net --> Ideas?

    Hey all,

    I've recently put thought into the idea of creating a Wikipedia page about msFlights.net and the VA as there really aren't many external references to our community that I can find and since the community is growing bigger and bigger by the year it might be nice to have some general info available about the community about us.

    I've got some ideas about what I might include but since I've only been here since January I thought you guys could give me some 'fun facts' or some 'about us' info that might be nice to share publicly.

    Thanks and can't wait for your thoughts!

    Gellert

    I personally like the Wikipedia idea, Gellert, and I'd be happy to contribute some short historical account and description of purpose. We at msFLIGHTS.net neither control nor seek to control most external references to our community. Those references are not community "branded". A Wikipedia article such as you propose would, inherently, be a community branded facility. Therefore, I would solicit from our regulars, our respected tenured members logged on night after night, opinions on this idea of yours. I'd also request staff to make comment here, publicly and/or discuss Wikipedia in the staff-private forum section we maintain for such discussions.

    I have found that many of my internet searches on simulation and aviation related criteria turn up many hits on this very forum. We are ubiquitous, it appears. In the distant past, several of us had made concerted effort to raise awareness of our community's existence and purpose on other aviation sim related websites. We don't make such effort anymore. IMHO, we have as much as we can currently handle assimilating new members and maintaining the positive experience for all participants that is and has been our reason for existence.
    Respects, Bob ...

      It's a pleasant thought, but I have serious doubts whether such a page would meet Wikipedia's notability standards, necessary for an article's inclusion in Wikipedia. It would be a shame to spend a lot of effort only to find such a page deleted for failing to meet those strict requirements. But I may be wrong; can someone convince me otherwise?

        I don't think I can :P
        You made a good point and Wiki backs it pretty well...
