  • My new PC build

Well guys, I've decided to build a new gaming/simulation rig. No, I didn't "improperly water cool" another system while watering my plants, its just time for me to get a new, powerful, modern PC and I can afford it atm.

This link shows a list of all the components that I chose. Each component was heavily researched and pondered over, and I think this will be a nice fast system. I've already got most of the parts, and will get the CPU and M.2 SSD next week. can't wait! What do you think?

I think you will notice a huge increase in speed and performance for gaming and x-plane with those components. Your computer will be snappy too with that SSD.

Looks like an awesome rig! The only suggestion I would make would be a second SSD. Use a smaller SSD (say 240GB) for the Boot (C) drive, then the M2 as your main drive for installing / playing games.

      Good Luck!

Nice choice with low budged, but i agree with Nova in case of a smaller ssd for the OS. btw, i bought the RTX 2060 AMP by Zotac, i'm extremli happy with it....

Personally, I don't think a second hard drive is necessary for a boot drive. While it might be nice to have to keep things separated or organized, there really isn't much of a need. The operating system doesn't use hardly any bandwidth after boot up. It should be noted that things you wish not to loose forever be backed up on a drive not always connected to your computer(or power for that matter), and 2 back-ups are much better, but this could be said for any hard drive. It is a nice idea to have a stand alone boot drive, but not really advantageous anymore in my opinion now that reliability has gotten much better. I am not trying to start any kind of debate, but if there is evidence it is advantageous, and is current(say 2-3 years old at most), then I would enjoy learning about it.

One thing i'd suggest is getting the new generation i7, the 8700k is the last gen, 9700k is current. If you have a Micro Center nearby they have pretty decent deals for the i7 9700k and a motherboard combo for $490: https://www.microcenter.com/product/...erboard-bundle

Also I didn't see ram in your list (maybe you already have some), but this ram is a really good price for performance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

I haven't heard of that SSD brand before, but it is pretty pricey, if you spend that much I'd prob go the for the Samsung 970 evo version which is only $20 more but you know it's quality ($240). https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-E...SIN=B07BN217QG
If you wanna save some money on the SSD this HP is a really good price for 1tb ($134) and it has done really well on speed benchmarks: https://www.amazon.com/HP-EX920-Inte...gateway&sr=8-1

For me 1tb is plenty of space and wouldn't need any extra space (I do sometimes use a 2tb external drive though).

Also I was planning on getting the i7 9700k but found out a new AMD ryzen 3000 cpu is coming out soon (I think June or July) so I decided to wait till it's out before I upgrade. It's' supposed to be faster and cheaper than Intel. Supposedly they are going to be as fast as the new i9 9900k, but likely much cheaper.

The price on that SSD jumped crazy high! Well I have to agree with Kalo's recommendation for sure now on that. As for the CPU, I was going to mention what Kalo said. It may be worth waiting until the next generation of both Intel and AMD CPU's too, Probably would get a better price to performance, but if you don't want to replace the motherboard, stick with what you got. Good luck with the endless choices lol

Oh I didn't realize you already had the motherboard, it's probably not worth upgrading to the new generation unless you felt like going through the hassle of selling your current motherboard on ebay, and spending extra money. I don't think the new generation is a huge performance increase, but it does have 8 cores vs the 8700k's 6, and P3D can use 8 cores.
