  • Best Prepar3D v2.2 configuration

I have a modest gaming computer, at one time it was considered to be "High End". I have experimented with version 2.2 and this is the best configuration I have come up with for a balance between good frame rates and best visuals.

    CPU: i7 920 @ 2.67Ghz
    Mem: 6 Gbytes
GPU: Nvidia GTX 760 FTW 4 Gbytes DDR5

    Affinity Mask: 254

    Sim: Prepar3D V2.2
Scenery: Orbx Global Base with Vector
Area: Middle of Idaho 12,000ft (Lots of trees and scattered clouds)

    Graphics:
    FXAA: On
    MSAA: 4 Samples
    Texture Filtering: Anisotropic 16x
    Texture Resolution: Ultra 4096
    Resolution 3570 x 1200 x 32 (stretched between 2 monitors one 1920 and the other 1650
    Wide-view Aspect Ratio enabled
    Mipmap VC Panels enabled

    Scenery:
    LOD radius: Max
    Tessellation Factor: Ultra
    Mesh resolution: 10m
    Texture resolution: 7cm
    Land detail textures enabled
    Scenery complexity: Dense
    Autogen Vegetation: Very Dense
    Autogen buildings: Dense
    Water Detail: Ultra
Reflections: Clouds enabled all others disabled (didn't try any others yet)
Bath water....ah...Bathymetry disabled (I don't see a difference either way)
    Special effects detail: Medium
    Special effects distance: Medium

    Lighting:
Landing lights illuminate ground unchecked(my personal preference)
    Lens flare unchecked(my personal preference)
    HDR Lighting checked

    Shadows:
Shadow Map Count: Low(I can't see a difference in setting it higher minimal frame rate difference at Ultra)
Enable Terrain to Receive Shadows: checked
Terrain Shadow Cast Distance: 10,000m (does start to impact frames at higher settings)
Cloud Shadow Cast Distance: 10,000m (does start to impact frames at higher settings)
Object Shadow Cast Distance: 3,000m (does start to impact frames at higher settings)

Object Type Cast and Receive: All checked except Vegetation Cast unchecked...I didn't like the shadows the trees cast...they flickered to much

    Weather:
    Cloud draw distance: 80 mi
    thermal visualization: None
    Volumetric Fog: checked
    Cloud detail set to Detailed
    Cloud coverage density: Medium

Well that covers most if not all of the frame rate impacting settings.

I get a steady frame rate of 40fps with a target of 42 frames set

    *UPDATE*

I got 25 to 28fps when flying over Seattle, WA and landing at KSEA

So let's see what everybody else has their settings at....just copy and paste this and edit.
