Hi guys, have another quick tutorial for you all out there!
Tired of waiting 10 minutes for FSX to load after having a fatal error? I may have the answer for you! See, when FSX initially loads up, it loads all of the data for your saved, default flight. So if you have a default flight saved in Orbx PNW in a PMDG 747, you are going to wait a whole lot longer than the guy with a default saved flight out in Male in a C172.
However, with the right config tweak, none of this matters, as we can prevent FSX from loading all of the default data on startup. This will give us much faster initial loading times, and unless you fly the same aircraft from the same destination at the same time every day, this will not effect your current settings one bit! So here we go!
The Tweak
1. Navigate to your FSX.cfg file (default location on Win 7 64bit is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX)
2. Always make a backup of your FSX.cfg file when making any changes
3. Open the FSX.cfg file in NOTEPAD, and navigate to the following header "[Main]"
4. Add the line "DisablePreload=1" anywhere under the [Main] tab
5. Save your FSX.cfg and launch FSX!
Please let me know how it worked out for you, very interested in your feedback.
