  • X-Plane - VR, Discord, and Push-to-talk

For group flights, you need Discord, but the current version will not keybind "push-to-talk" (PTT) to the HTC VIVE controllers for those of us in VR.

I've found a solution to this problem.
"OpenVR Input Emulator" once installed will insert itself as an option into the SteamVR taskbar in VR, and allow mapping of any VIVE controller button to a keyboard button.
It works, it's free, and can be found here:

    https://github.com/matzman666/OpenVR...lator/releases

So - I can now press the grip button on my right HTC VIVE controller and that is the equivelant to me pressing "tab" on my keyboard. I have made the "tab" key my PTT.

    Further update:
Here's the instructions for mapping a keyboard character "tab" to the Vive Controller "grip button" using OpenVr Input Emulator

    After installing OpenVR Input Emulator,

Get into your SteamVR home, and press the HTC VIVE controllers "system button". Its the button below the circular trackpad.
    Select OpenVR Input Emulator,
Select the controller whose button you wish to remap
    then Select "Input Remapping"
then Select the window next to "Grip"
then select the window next to "Normal Press"
then select the window next to "Binding Type" and choose "Keyboard"
then select the window next to "Key" and choose "Tab"and "Using" "VIRTUAL KEY CODE" - NOT "Scan Code"
    then select save.

    You're done!

To complete the Discord PTT setup, you of course need to keybind the tab key to Discord in the usual way.

    Thanks

You can indeed bind controller buttons to Discord. See: http://prntscr.com/jelzq9 .

Hey thanks Karl - but I can't seem to get discord to natively keybind to my VIVE controllers grip button. Discord does not seem to recognise pressing any of the VIVE controllers buttons.

Never-the-less I've just solved the problem.
