  • Prepar3d V3 Information and Support

FSUIPC version 4.946b dated October 4th 2015 is available at www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. Change log addition only states:

    46. Full support for P3D version 3, initial release, has been added.

My experience is that this FSUIPC update correctly found my 4 installations (FSX classic, FSX Steam, P3Dv2 and P3Dv3), installed correctly and seems to work.
    Respects, Bob ...

Orbx have commenced releasing their quintet installers with installation into FSX / FSX:SE / P3Dv1.x / P3Dv2.x / P3Dv3.x for Global vector and OpenLC EU.

To install the regions I followed some steps the I found on YouTube.

        • [*=2]Make a backup of C:\PrigramData\Lockheed Martin.
[*=2]Rename P3D v2.5 folder to something else (P3D.bak for instance)
[*=2]Rename P3D v3 folder to the name that the v2.5 had been.
[*=2]Run an Orbx installer and allow it to install into v2.5
          • [*=2]It will think it's installing into v2.5 but will actually install into v3 because you renamed the folder)

[*=2]Once the installer is finished rename the v3 and v2.5 folders back to their original names.
[*=2]Run FTX2 Central. Prepar3d V3 will now be an option.
[*=2]Select v3 and configure as desired.

Repeat this process for every region you wish to install. Only do one at a time however. If you mess up, no worries. You've simply restore the appropriate backup of C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin.

If you're not comfortable with the basic of Windows as far as renaming folders, don't do this. Just wait a week or so for Orbx to release formal installers.

Well, the other good news are, ASN has a Betapatch for P3Dv3, WORKS PERFECT. A2A released the C172 and the Cherokee Installers for P3Dv3. ORBX released FTX Global and FTX OpenLC EU. I agree with Karl's idea of installing but than you have the problem later when LM comes with updates. the new folder management of P3D alows you to update the sim without a new install of the third party software, so you better stay tuned and wait for the proper installer what every developer now is going to release. Oh i forgot, PMDG has patches out for P3Dv3.

It's only version 1.331 which is very limited in its features but yes at least it is something true.

Got DAFSIM working... (support is being added in next update though)

                Key is:
Dafsim support P3D V3 following this:
Download the SDK V3 P3D here:
                http://www.prepar3d.com/support/sdk/
                Installing the SDK.
                Go to the Prepar3D v3 directory 3.0.10.14945 SDK \ Utilities \ SimConnect SDK \ lib \ managed
Copy "LockheedMartin.Prepar3D.SimConnect.dll" in the P3D module file by renaming the "SimConnectP3D3.dll".

                Then it works.
Do not forget to delete "SimConnectP3D2.dll"
Also make sure the DAFSim dll.xml entries are the last ones in the file.

I found that hard to interpret. I edited it in hopes of saving others from the same. It looks like a long list but it's actually just a matter of some copying and pasting for the most part.

                    • Download & install the P3D v3 SDK from http://www.prepar3d.com/support/sdk/
                    • Open the SDK folder. ( By default it will be at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 SDK 3.0.10.14945\Utilities\SimConnect SDK\lib\managed )
                    • Make a copy of the file LockheedMartin.Prepar3D.SimConnect.dll
                    • rename that copy to SimConnectP3D3.dll.
                    • Cut or copy the SimConnectP3D3.dll so that you can pastes it to a different location.
                    • Navigate to the modules folder inside the main Prepar3d v3 folder.
                    • Move the SimConnectP3D3.dll this modules folder.
                    • Delete or rename the file SimConnectP3D2.dll.
                    • Finally make sure that the DAFSIM is the last entry in the DLL.XML file.
o V3 of Prepard3D changes the location of the DLL.XML. The working copy is now located at C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3.
o Editing this file only requires a text editor like notepad. Be sure to make a backup before editing.
