  • ATC Session Update: RE

    Good news folks!

We will begin ATC Sessions starting Monday July 22nd, 2013. Hawgdawg has temporarily committed to giving us rooms for our sessions(Thank You! ). So come on by, we're gonna have a ball! We will start off with a group flight on
Sunday July 28th. A special thanks to Sound(Dale) and Hawgdawg!

*Depending on controller, flight regulations may be different. However we recommend having a look at Subpart B on the FAA Regulations: http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx...4:2.0.1.3.10.2 *
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the instructions upon joining the ATC session as a Pilot:
-----Please use your Tailnumber as your Callsign-----
*Please make sure your Callsign is set to Airliner: NONE*
*Please make sure your Flight number is set to: NONE*
*Enter your callsign, i.e. AC101, in the Tailnumber box before entering the session.*

    1. Download and Install Pilot Assistant by FSOpen: http://fsopen.co.uk/pilots/pilotassistant/ (This will be used to file a flight plan)
    2. Register an account using Pilot Assistant for FSOpen.
    3. Open and Login to Pilot Assistant.
    4. Choose your rank that best describes your skills as a Pilot. (ATC's will use this to aid you)
5 When fully loaded and parked at a Gate in FSX, open Flight Plan and Maps in Pilot Assistant.
    6. Submit the Flight Plan.
    7. Once submitted, check the in-game Chatbox for a Ground (if not available, then either Tower, or Center) frequency. Tune to the local frequency. Once tuned, your TeamSpeak room will be switched to the correct frequency as well making our sessions TeamSpeak friendly!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Other Information:
***If you're on the ground at a controlled airport(if not airport, then area), ask the Ground controller(If no ground, then Tower or Center) for VFR or IFR Clearance giving the ATC your planned route. If direct, then e.g. Requesting VFR Clearance from CYYZ to KJFK via *GPS-DIRECT* (note the stars indicate your own choice of route). ***
    - International/Major Airport Areas with a Center controller handle a 60-mile radius. If you are found within this radius you are required to contact the center controller for flight plan clearance.
    - Regional Airport Areas with a Center controller handle a 40-mile radius. If you are found within this radius you are required to contact the center controller for flight plan clearance.
    - If you fall under neither during the session, please change to the UNICOM frequency at 119.500 . In UNICOM, the pilot is required to announce their movements from pushback to takeoff. Upon arrival in to a controlled airspace when 60-miles if an International/Major airport or 40-miles if a Regional airport, you are required to contact the Center controller if active.
