  • ATC Rules

    1. If a user wishes to control it is asked that they change their TeamSpeak name to match their position and airport
    - EX: Original user name: John.W
Users name while controlling: John.W [KBUF Tower]

    2. All Users are welcome to control at any airport of their choosing

    3. All user are encouraged to use FsOpen’s Flight Strips or similar programs

    4. All pilots and controllers will respect each other, this includes but is not limited to:
    - No name calling
    - No rude or interruptive behavior
    - No Racist or homophobic behavior or language

    5. When in the ATC Channel's in TeamSpeak it is up to the active controller as to whether they allow non atc communications when there is no traffic how ever if a user need to contact the control all non atc communications must stop immediately if you wish to continue your conversation please use one of the general purpose rooms provided.

6 If a user flying a VA route is heading to your airport, and wishes not to speak with ATC, treat them as uncontrolled. Do not ask for them to be removed from the FSX server or TeamSpeak. They should have their transponder to 2200

    7. If a user is not in TeamSpeak and flying in your airspace, treat them as uncontrolled. Don't ask for them to be kicked unless they are hitting other aircraft, buzzing pilots, and you have tried contacting them in FSX chat. Admins will be less likely to kick them if they are and you have done none of this.
    • Someone flies into the tower or other aircraft
    • A user repeatedly buzzes Tower or other Aircraft.

    8. Please don't ask for your channel name to be changed by an Operator or Server Admin. Ask anyone with an ATC badge, and if none are on, just wait. As long as your name is written correctly, people will know you are controlling.

    9. Please be patient with controllers we have a lot of users that want to learn ATC an as such open a small tower and try to control to the best of there ability. It is important to remember this and encourage these people as this is the only way our community grows.

If you are in ATC Airspace and in the ATC Channel, you are expected to follow controls of the controller while in their airspace.

Remember we are all here to enjoy our time within MS flights and expand our hobby.

    Any questions, post below.

Check back monthly for refreshers or any updates that may be added. Also, these rules go alongside our main rules that can be found in General Discussion forum or the right pane of every TeamSpeak Channel.

Thanks LLama. I 'specially appreciate that these ATC rules let anybody climb into a tower immediately while a more developed ATC program is worked thru to official publication. In one eloquent swoop, I believe this solves the time pressure of fully developing a certification examination procedure and tested knowledge requirements. These rules will make eligible those more experienced FSXWorldwide controllers as well as historic FLIGHTS.net experienced controllers to start practicing their craft this very day.

I remind all of us that currently, by consensus of those involved, our FSOpen Server2 ATC tab - ATC restrictions selection is set to "Flightstrips Only". The other available but NOT selected ATC tab settings are "Flightstrips AND !Tower" and "No ATC Allowed".

We all acknowledge your hard work and your making tough decisions. I think you are getting that support that you ask for. Correct me here in this thread if I am mistaken in any of my restatements and clarifications.
        Respects, Bob ...

I'd like to reserve server-side benefits to those using FlightStrips only (runway guard & map/player-list designation) in order to dissuade abuse. Those visitors/members obtaining the software and learning its use would be, in my opinion, already better suited to make proper use of such benefits. This suggestion doesn't, however, preclude anyone from using the FSX-available Tower features for conducting ATC operations nonetheless.

May I confirm Wingman's post # 6 as FLIGHTS.net's FSOpen Server2 ATC tab standing operating procedure until our ATC program directors choose to change or refine this ATC tab setting and all that that setting regulates ?

I believe flight strips is not a requirement...only for the test, so as you will have to use it for a few mins for the test, you don't need it after

Kenos, as Eddie has stated above, we do not require it to be a controller. However, it is probably one of the most useful tools available. There really inst anything that compares to it because of its functionality with the server it self. There are a few programs like "Flightsim Commander" or "Plan-G" that will track other players. However these do not interact with the server the way all of the FSOpen products do.

                      Update:

Check back here as these rules do get updated. They have been updated several times the last few days. These are not a lot of rules, but we do expect them to be followed. Some of them are just common sense.

                      Thanks, and Happy Controlling!
