  • FTX Global Patch 1.1 has been released. - Now 1.2

    Changes include:
    • Improved 3D lights that perform even better FPS and more denser Vector Lights
    • Increased 3D lights size by 40% for further view distance and greater brightness (eventually we will release a 3D lights tuning app V2)
    • Edited 3D lights annotation for many urban textures previously missing lighting
    • Added intersection vehicle red tail lights, red/green traffic lights, and neon lights in commercial areas
    • Edits to autogendescriptions.spb to add missing compatibility for some SCO Scotland objects and also missing veg at KWYS
    • New landclass for the USA SW region to eradicate the "green deserts" and also add in the indigenous red desert in that region
    • New landclass for parts of Africa where pine trees are being shown instead of native African trees
    • FTX Global Uninstaller (already released separately)

They recommend that FTX Central be set to FTX Global before installing.

Welp, looks like the new update somehow managed to uninstall every single one of my regions, leaving only the airports. Everything was done correctly, FTX Central set to Global, installed libraries afterwards which shouldnt have actually had any effect, opened FTX Central and got all sorts of errors, checked my Orbx folder and all my region files were gone, even stuff like the pdf documents and maps. So, now I'll have to reinstall FSX from the ground up, which I dont have the patience for considering I just did that a week ago. Time to take a break from FSX for a while... don't have the time nor patience for it

Yeah, that sucks BIG TIME! I'm not seeing anyone else reporting that on the Orbx forums... Hopefully you're a one off. Doesn't help you though.

Yeah, me either. I'm not even sure how it could have possibly happened. As far as I know, it should never remove anything. and I used the Global uninstaller last week during my reinstall so am familiar with it, so I'm sure I didnt accidentally run that instead of that patch or something silly. I can apparently still fly, just with some errors in my scenery.cfg. Going to try and reinstall a region and see if it goes well, hopefully I can just reinstall my Orbx stuff and be ok.

What if you dont have FTX Central? Then it doesn't matter?

If you have any sort of FTX region or Global installed, and you don't have FTX Central, you have bigger problems my friend :P

I assume you mean FTX Global... if you do not have FTX Global, then no, do not install this update.

Sounds like the uninstaller in the patch works just fine! I see others are reporting the same issue over on the Orbx forums.

Think I'll pass on the update till they clear it up.

                  Having trouble with the patch?

Looks like the answer has been found.

Interesting considering my copy is legit (order number in sig @ FTX Forums, have received support before) and it seems they are outright banning anyone who mentions it on their forums :\ The only thing I can think of is that when I download my packages from FlightSimStore, I extract the FTX Setup files from the wrapper, as I hate waiting on their activation servers when I need to reinstall, then just burn them to disc. They have no protection on those files. Even more interesting is that it didnt touch a single FTX Global file, so that was completely intact, so even if it did detect pirated software, it deleted the wrong stuff!

How do you know someone has been banned from their forums? I noticed yesterday there were two threads about install issues and two of the posters did not include their FTX Global order numbers. Those threads are no longer there.

Found this ...."WARNING: FTX Global Update 1.10 _DELETES_ all files from the ORBX folder.

                        You've been warned.

There must be some protection checks within the installed. "

I understand you're just linking for the sake of information, but please don't link to pirated software on the forums, or the Teamspeak for that matter.

Also, I wasnt debating the fact that the did include some sort of DRM in the latest update, all I'm saying is that it deleted all of my legitimate files, but left what I can only assume it deemed as illegitimate files alone.

Ok, so all my regions and airports are installed, uninstalled and then reinstalled FTX Global, just applied the patch without issue. Not sure what happened the first time around, but everything is fine now... glad I didnt have to do a complete reinstall of FSX. For now, I recommend everyone who applies the patch makes a backup if they can. I know the ORBX folder is massive, but sure beats reinstalling everything in the event something goes wrong. I would be interested to know what sort of method they are using for detecting illegitimate software. It doesnt make sense to me that it went wrong the first time, but smoothly the second even though nothing was changed aside from maybe install order.

Good to see you got it to work. I had no issues installing it.

Not feeling the excitement about the patch though, very little in AZ has changed .
Phoenix is less green but still has pine trees on top of places like Camelback. The GC looks a little better but is still blah. It actually looks like some areas haven't changed at all or have gotten worse. There seems to be an issue with the Flagstaff/ Sedona area as well which they cannot answer.
The red rocks of Sedona which were in the default FSX are still gone.
