For those of you who do not know what REX or HDX are, they are 2 very well made PAYWARE FSX programs that use 2048x2048 - 4096x4096 textures that make your FSX environment look as real as possible. REX and HDX are made by 2 separate companies and change FSX's textures differently but they can be blended together for the best default FSX results you can get.
REX ESS + OD: This program will change your flight environment, water environment, and some of your DEFAULT based airport environments (any 3rd party airport that has its own taxiway/runway/apron ect.. textures will override REX & HDX textures). REX also has its own weather engine which is better than default FSX, however it does require some tweaking in the program to get things just right, but it will give you some amazing weather accuracy, this however can cause problems if a mulitplayer server has FSX Default Real weather enabled (the REX weather engine is optional to use). Once REX textures are installed you dont have to open the program again unless you want to change settings or use their weather engine.

U]Airport Enhancer HDX:[/U] As the name implies this PAYWARE program focuses solely on the DEFAULT airport environments and uses 4096x4096 textures which in some cases are beyond what REX will install for airport environments. This is a very small program with extremely high resolution textures that do not seem to cause frame loss at all over REX textures. Using a combination of REX & HDX textures makes for the most realistic default scenery I have seen to date. Be sure to purchase HDX off of the developers website (6/3/2013) as they currently have a sale going on where you can get the program for $9.99 instead of the full $29.99 price!

These are my HDX settings note that Concrete Runways is set to Classic, and Asphalt is set to Contrasted (Asphalt can also be set to Classical depending upon your preference), Taxiways are handled by REX, Parking is Filthy, Markings are worn & torn, Jetway's are abused, & REX is handling the surface refractions.
