  • Joystick Suggestions

I am sure there is already a post about this, but I am taking suggestions for a joystick/throttle combination. I am currently using a keyboard/mouse configuration. Is it worth it to buy this? Does it improve in-game experience?
Here is what I am looking at:

    http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X45-Dig...rds=Saitek+X52
    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Extre...rds=Saitek+X52
    PRICE RANGE: 50-150

Nice Selections you have here! I really like the design of the X52 and I also have seen many good reviews of the Cyborg X. It has a nice design to it and has split throttles as well. Personally I went the cheap way and got the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I have had it for about a year and it is alright for its price.

I have heard of a lot of people with the Extreme 3D pro. I am thinking about getting it so I can fly helicopters because I currently have the Saitek Cessna flight yoke and have a hard time with Helicopters. Personally, that would be the way I would go.
      If it ain't Boeing — I ain't going.

I use a Thrustmaster Hostas and it is also very good and I do indeed think those choices are good, but I am not the joystick expert so I suggest to hear what Jcom and WheeledWeevil about it.

I use the Extreme 3D pro ... great for the price. The only thing I didn't like was the z-axis for the rudder control so I bought the pedals a few months ago.

Last month I picked up the Saitek yoke and throttle. I still use the Extreme as well.

I started flying FSX with the Extreme 3D pro. It worked great and was very economical. I then upgraded to the X52. I love this, with the independent throttle and stick combination.

The buttons are programmable, but I had some difficulty doing the actual programming. I am using Windows 8 and blame part if not all of it on the operating system. I didn't spend too much time trying to figure it out, as the X52 is already programmed to work with FSX out of the box. I have also had a problem with FSX losing connection with the X52, but I heard this is a problem with other controllers as well. I tried one of two fixes and found the problem occurs much less often now.

Overall, I think you will enjoy this set-up.

Absolutely! I also started off FSX with mouse/keyboard. A few months later, I purchased a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and I was blown away by how much more control you have over your plane. You can control just about all the essentials just by programming buttons. Although I do use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, I've heard many good things about the X52, so go right on ahead with that one. Whichever one you pick, I'm sure your FSX experience will greatly improve

                    Hi,

the following tipp does not help with the Alzheimers disease of Win8 but it helps with assigning all buttons much better than the original saitek software: Heard of "Linda"?
                    Very good "small" program.... ;-)

                    Cheers, Stephan
                    Happy landings,
