  • A2A B-17 Shutdown Checklist

I have been flying the B-17 quite a bit lately and am wondering why there is not a shutdown checklist included. I have just been hitting "cold start" in the menu to shut the airplane down. I was wondering if you guys developed some sort of procedure, or if you found one somewhere. I have found some B-17 checklists online from the bomber groups but none of them are shutdown. I also tried shutting down the magnetos then just hitting the mixture and work backwards on the startup checklist but then I get a message in the maintenance hanger that says "some signs of recent detonation" I think it means that the engine has run recently but I do not get that message when I hit the cold start button.

    Thanks- Weevil

Here ya go! Shut down sequence is right around the 25 minute mark.

    OR:

    -turbo off
    -rev up to 1000 rpm
    -mixture to cutoff
    -open throttle completely
-magnetos off, when blades stop turning
    -radio off
-all other switches off before turning batteries off
-inverters off, when all other instruments returned to neutral
    -batteries off
    -lock controls
