    http://www.flightsimstore.com/produc...oducts_id=2703

    ANNOUNCING REX4 TEXTURE DIRECT HD!

REX4 Texture Direct is a NEW integrated global environment texture utility and effects add-on for Microsoft FSX, PREPAR3D v1.4 and v2 and is DX9, DX10 and DX11 compliant! Texture Direct takes advantage of the new core features of PREPAR3D v2 while enhancing both FSX and PREPAR3D v.1.4 to never before seen heights.

Tailored to low AND high-end systems, REX4 Texture Direct is comprised of over 16GB of material ranging from standard resolution to high-definition choices.

All NEW textures... over 16,000 files, most with enhanced algorithms. Texture Direct has a large, easy to read user-interface, and texture installation is lightning fast!

REX4 TEXTURE DIRECT FEATURES:
    • All NEW textures... over 16,000 files! (16 GB)
    • Intellectually Synced Texture Engine works hand-in-hand with REX4 Weather Direct and REX4 Architect
    • Enhanced algorithms
    • Large, easy to read user-interface
    • Lightning fast texture installation
    • Ability to select and install textures individually and/or create custom 'themes' to install a full suite of textures instantly
    • Powerful new theme protocols: Local, Weather or Community, where users have the ability to share texture sets (themes) with others using Texture Direct
    • Rating system for shared themes
    • Ability for users to select weather scenarios or enter airport code to have texture themes generated based upon weather conditions
    • Ability to auto start simulator after texture injection
    • Easily switch between simulator preference (FSX, P3Dv1.4 & P3Dv2)
    • Network capable
    • In-app system notifications
    • Check for updates feature built-in
    • DX9, DX10 and DX11 compliant
    • New unique types of cloud base structures
    • Low/Mid-level 3D clouds, including Stratus, Cumulonimbus, Cumulus, Stratocumulus, Altostratus and Altocumulus
    • High-level clouds, including Cirrus, Cirrostratus and Cirrocumulus
    • 14 types of lightning: IC, CC and CG
    • Worldwide tropical water classification fix, eliminating the repetitive texture tiling effect. Water boundaries blend much more realistically
    • Water textures and wave animations compliant with DX9, DX10 and DX11.
    • Ultra-realistic airport environments made from custom, high-definition aerial photography
    • Give ALL default airports in FSX and Prepar3D the payware-style treatment, from light to heavy use runways, taxiways and pavement markings! Highly detailed textures, including runway textured lighting encasements. Originating from HD source photography, runway tire markings are properly scaled within the simulator creating a more realistic viewpoint. Runways with light or heavy wear... your choice, over 32 to choose from, the highest definition textures with the most fidelity on the market!
    • The tire marking build-up is fascinating when using the heavy use runway option. Many types of runway grooving and material selection
    • Runway lighting encasement textures added to runways to give more depth and a more properly scaled feel
    • FINALLY, dirty and soiled runway markings at all airport runways worldwide! No more blown out white marks interfering with your immersion
    • Runway markings now support larger aircraft such as the Boeing 777
    • 28 amazingly detailed taxiways developed from all types of concrete, asphalt and bitumen
    • Runway and taxiway detailed planar bump-map effects
    • Spectacular terrain bump-mapping effects, modeled from different materials. Support for ORBX airports
    • High-definition taxiway markings with extreme clarity
    • Beautiful photo-realistic skies sampled from many locations around the world. HDR texture option included for Prepar3D v2!
    • Properly balanced terrain light and shadow values during dawn and dusk
    • Smoother transitional algorithms during dawn and dusk times
    • Realistic corresponding haze layer values when encountering the proper WX
    • 23 types of runway edge and taxiway lighting, some with simulated ground glow
    • Extremely detailed and enhanced ground rain effect
    • Realistic dirty airport parking and jetway marks
    • Easy to read, enhanced airport signage. Different lighting conditions dictate the range of colors from yellow to orange and red to amber. A wonderful shiny finish with matte black backings
    • Sun, corona, glow, flares and special effects, giving the most realistic renditions of atmospheric conditions. Panning around your aircraft at different angles during beginning or end of day will yield just how dynamic these effects can be. Rendered for DX9, DX10 and DX11!
    • With REX leading the way in water rendering, the new tech built into REX Texture Direct will leave you speechless. Rendered for DX9, DX10 and DX11.
    • Environment sound effects. Jaw-dropping in/out cockpit precipitation and thunder sounds

So someone buy it and tell us if you see a difference!

Kind of pricey considering its just textures, none of the other struff. I mean, I didnt use anything but the textures, but a smaller price point would have been nice to reflect the changes.

At least previous customers get $5 off... So it's $30 US. The textures look good, and I'm excited about the P3DV2 features/compatibility. As it is, it seems like a lot of people use REX exclusively for textures, so this may be good long term. It will be interesting to see how the weather engine will be, and I'll have no use to create weather themes...(I think...) Anyway, no money until after Christmas for me, and there is still Orbx Vector to come, plus I still have a bunch of other Orbx stuff to buy before their sale ends... :S

So just a question, does this replace REX essentials + overdrive?

Currently I have none of the REX family of products but am considering it. So I am curious what the community's thoughts are on REX Direct.

To Rex or Not To Rex...that is the question!

          Cheers

            It kind of is...

With REX 4 they are separating it into 4 separate products.

            Texture Direct - Textures only
Weather Direct - real world and archived weather engine. Lots of people use others for this aspect, such as Opus, Active Sky, etc...
Weather Architect - Allows you to create specific weather, "What makes Weather Architect different is it allows the user to paint the weather on a map with accuracy down to a single latitude and longitude! Thus, the user can be creative about the weather they encounter"
???? - Unknown at this time

            More on those here: http://www.rexdirectexperience.com/

The old version, REX Essentials + OD does combine the first three, although I wouldn't say the "architect" is that great, and the weather engine is not the best. Most people do buy it for the textures...

              Ok so next question,

I currently have FTX Global, FTX Global Vector and FTX AU/England/Scotland/Wales is Rex worth adding on and what advantages does it give me over Global?

              Cheers

Completely different parts of the sim.

All (except a couple planes) of the FTX products are scenery based, ie the texture on the ground, or autogen buildings. REX is more "Environment". Clouds, sky, sun, water (textures, colors, & wave animation), but they do have a couple extras such as runway/taxiway textures.

They both do different things, and work very well together.

FTX Global as stated is general ground scenery based, REX 4 will work with it as they do NOT conflict and will enhance your overall flight experience. I have REX 4 and it knocks anything else that covers environmental changes out of the water, it even has better ground airport textures than the ORBX payware airports! I currently use REX 4's textures with Active Sky Next's weather engine, and the two together are absolutely the most realistic environmental simulation I have ever used.
"Remember, when in doubt hold on to your altitude, no one has ever collided with the sky"

"Speed is life, Altitude is life insurance"

"Respect the ground, for during the 100 or so years that man has been flying things made of metal going hundreds of miles per hour, and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose."
