  • FTX Global Freeware Airports NA Pack 1 Released!

Orbx has released their first freeware airport pack for FTX Global, which includes 7 airfields located in the Southern California region. They have released no screenshots. I can only assume this was made using the default mesh, so as long as it doesnt check that FTX Global is actually installed, these should all work in a default FSX install as well. If anyone can confirm that this will work without FTX Global installed, I will move it to the freeware section. Will try and get some screenshots up today if I have time.

    It contains the following airports:

KAJO, Corona Municipal Airport, Corona, CA - Dubbed the "Friendliest little Airport in America".

KAVX, Catalina Airport, Avalon, CA - Restaurant at the airport has a specialty of Buffalo burgers.

KEMT, El Monte Airport, El Monte, CA - last the airports in the San Gabriel Valley.

KRIR, Flabob Airport, Riverside/Rubidoux, CA - the seventh oldest surviving airport in California, the "aviation nuts" their call themselves "Flabobians"

KVNY, Van Nuys Airport, Van Nuys, CA - ranks as one of the world's busiest general aviation airports.

L35, Big Bear City Airport, Big bear, CA - Low fuel price, friendly airport workers and good restaurants.

L52, Oceano County Airport, Oceano, CA - Within walking distance of the Pismo Beach sand dunes.

    So download, install and enjoy!

These freeware airports are designed around FTX Global, not UTX which is by a completely different company and not required AT ALL! The other Orbx freeware airports are designed around their full regions, so without them things will definitely not work correctly. It may be as simple as elevation issues, or more complex such as calls to new landclass types that FSX does not know of by default.

I did see that if you have a North America Orbx region that it is recommended that you switch to North America in FTX Central before installing these.

Also pack 2 has been released (a bit ago actually), and it sounds like 3 and 4 may be coming soon. Always be sure to install the latest Orbx Libraries after you install any one of their products.
