  • vPilot and addon aircraft

    Hey guys,

I've looked around and can't figure this out one way or another.
My friend and I both have the same addon aircraft. Is there a way for us to see our proper aircraft?
Also not sure how we can see each other in default FSX aircraft, such as an ultralight/trike.
I'm using FSX Accel, and he is using steam.

    Thank you

you can see each other's in the same aircraft but you have to make your own model making rule set and use the default model matching read the this list.
Note No trike as it is usually used for trolling.

    Hope it helps.

      Ok thanks LittleCube.

After looking at this a lot more closely

and looking at the files themselves I think I've got it figured out.

Dragon, You can make your own VMR file or customize a current one. However, when attending group flights, be fully aware that you have made these modifications and they wont work with other people that don't have the same VMR file and aircraft installed. Also if you intend to distribute your edits to other people in our community, please warn them the information I give you here in this thread. Thanks and happy flying!

Copy that Travis. Looks like vPilot makes an attempt to resolve your aircraft into a similar type for someone that doesnt have the type code you are using, but no idea how well that works. Looks like worst case scenario is you always show up as a default like an airbus, and they get thrown an error. Please tell me it's not quite that bad

Edit: Yup after some testing it's that bad. I see why you don't want to do this in group flight. I did get it to work for just my friend and I though.

It's a good idea to set your default in vPilot on your PC to default to a similar type aircraft rather than the Airbus. That way if some does come in and they put a model you don't have it doesn't mess with your side too much. My personal thought (and I may be alone on this) is that I care more about what people are substituted as on my side than on theirs.

Excellent tip, since I'm mainly flying GA most people that join up with me are flying similar planes. I'm a lot happier now that I know I have some flexibility with the software. Next time my friend and I decide to fly up the florida coast we can see each other in whatever trikes we choose as opposed to having to pick the glider which doesn't look quite right.
