  • Around the World Intermission #6/7: DROP TEST!

Bring your biggest and heaviest cargo props! Our engineers have requested one final test of the Duplicity drive before we hand it back. They call it "rigorous high-G shock testing", but we'll just call it a drop test. Specifically they want us to do a series of touch-and-goes on our route from Omaha to Chicago. (I think they're using the word "touch" as a euphemism.)

Our able pilots never disappoint, so each of our three legs on Thursday will be further divided into three, with touch-and-goes at the two intermediate stops on each leg. You can make these landings as heavy as you like; our engineers need the data.

Cruise: 225 kts indicated at 8,000 ft asl

    Route: Week 6: KOMA>(KAIO>KGFZ)>KDSM>(KOTM>KIOW)>KMLI>(KSQI>KARR)>KMDW
(Omaha > Des Moines > Quad City > Chicago Midway)

Aircraft: Cargo props and propliners. Fully loaded! NO JETS.

Reminder: Bring your fully laden cargo or passenger prop to KOMA for a 9pm departure for 6 touch-and-goes and 3 full-stops. "If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing." - Chuck Yeager
