Want to take a break from routine, airport to airport flying? Are you confident enough with your helicopter flying skills doing an impromptu search & rescue/recovery (SAR) mission when called upon? Join "MSF Rotorheads" flight group's first mission-based, helicopter bushflightseeing event! Bushplane pilots are also welcome for this beta SAR mission.
MISSION BRIEFING: About 30 Mins. before event starts. Event starts by 3pm PST or 6pm EST (US). PST is GMT -8:00.
SCENARIO (FICTIONAL):
- Event organizer/mission commander just got a call about an urgent need during the weekend for volunteer search & rescue (SAR) pilots for the Canadian Geological Survey services (CGS) HQ in coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). More details will be announced during mission briefing.
MISSION OBJECTIVES:
- To be announced during briefing.
FLIGHTPLAN:
- Impromptu flightplan due to nature of mission.
ROTORCRAFT/AIRCRAFT:
- This is a risky, dangerous VFR bushflightseeing mission intended for helicopters. STOL bush planes (particularly amphibians) that can cruise at 100-110 KIAS and can climb to 8,000 ft. MSL will be needed to airlift possible survivors and equipment.
RECOMMENDED PLATFORM & SCENERY ADDONS:
- This will be a limited-entry mission for now due to the nature of this event (beta), small areas/sizes of the landing zones (LZ), airstrips and/or waterways and short distances of the hop legs (2nm shortest leg and 57.5nm longest leg) and possible group frame rate (FPS) issues, it is recommended for few participants-preferably 4 to 5 risk-taking, cocky pilots who can conform to impromptu mission updates/guidelines that will be announced by the group flight event organizer in the TS Group Flights channel during assembly time (within 30 mins.) before event starts. In order to successfully join this event, mission volunteer pilots must meet or have the following criteria:
1) FSX Classic/Boxed-Acceleration DX9 or DX10 (installed, tested). P3D, FSX-SE or XP (not tested)
2) ORBX PNW region scenery (payware, installed)
3) Scar Creek Outposts scenery (freeware scenery + mission files for manual install. Download link to be provided by event organizer during briefing)
FLIGHT SERVER
- MSF SimLink (Click here for set-up)
WEATHER
- Recommended to use server weather (available to all)
SEASON & TIME
- Summer (Scar Creek scenery has no season changer) @ 12 noon, local time.
RECOMMENDED SIMLINK MODEL MATCHING CODES:
- Choose what you're actually flying closest in size, weight and performance specs...
Chinook (heavy-lift helicopter) - CH47
Super Puma AS332 (medium helicopter) - AS32
Huey (medium helicopter) - UH1
Blackhawk (large helicopter) - UH60
A-Star 350 (light helicopter) - AS50
Beaver (float/amphibious plane) - DHC2
Goose (amphibious plane) - G21
Catalina (amphibious plane) - PBY
HOW TO JOIN EVENT (2 WAYS):
- Show up in TS Group Flight channel during mission briefing time and inform event organizer/mission commander that you didn't sign-up with MSF Rotorheads group but interested in joining event... OR...
- Sign-up with MSF Rotorheads (special interest group for helicopter enthusiasts if you are one) by following steps (below) and posting in event forum your interest to join event, then show up during mission briefing and remind event organizer/mission commander that you already signed-up with MSF Rotorheads & interested to join the mission..
HOW TO JOIN/SIGN-UP WITH "MSF ROTORHEADS" (MODERATED GROUP)

1) Go to MSF website: http://msflights.net/forum/content.php
2) Login at top right of MSF webpage to your acct. with UN & PW. Register if you haven't.

6) Recheck under "My Groups" on the left side. If "MSF Rotorheads" appears, then you have successfully joined.
7) Then you can also read about group announcements, photos and/or discussions and introduce events. As a group member, you may also post if you want but keep the topic informative and relevant.
8) Watch out for more MSF Rotorheads bushflightseeing tours, missions and/or events that will be posted there. THAT'S IT!
Since this group flight session is still in BETA mode (experimental stage) with expected hiccups, please bear with event organizer for being new to MSF group flights. Constructive comments on how to improve event session are welcome via TS shortly after event/mission ends. For other questions & comments, kindly post it in the MSF Rotorheads' Group Discussions or communicate directly via TS with event organizer when around.
Hope to have fun bushflightseeing with a few mission volunteer pilots soon...
