  • Down the River Rhein: A Reflection Flight! (Saturday Aug 22 @ 8PM EDT)

    Down The River Rhein
A Short series touring along the river.

    Week 1 of 5

It has been exactly 5 years(to the month) that we started this flight series!
Let's explore the new visual and performance offerings of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator.
In this flight, we search again for the start of the river, then begin our journey to find the end.

    Flight Plan
    LSZL>LSZE>LSZR>EDNY
    • Legs are not GPS Direct!
    • First leg is long! Expect 45minutes to an Hour!
    • We will be following the river once we find it.
    • Download the flight plan HERE.

    Cruise
    Speed 90-110kts.

    Altitude
Climb to 11,000, then descend as desired.

    Aircraft
Any single engine propeller aircraft that can maintain 90kts
Performance Check! Aircraft must be able to reach 11,000 feet to safely pass terrain!
    LSZE is a short airstrip!

Highly Recommended Aircraft for MFS: (More info to come)
Cub Crafter X Cub: Good climb and takeoff performance, perfect speed range.
Beechcraft Bonanza G36: Okay takeoff performance, Good climb performance.

    Okay Aircraft:
Pits Special S2S: Great climb and takeoff performance, very sensitive and difficult flying characteristics.
Extra 330LT: Great climb and takeoff performance, very sensitive and difficult flying characteristics.
DA-40-NG: Long takeoff roll, good climb performance.
Flight Design CTSL: Poor climb performance, It can, but will take a while to achieve 11,000ft.
JMB Aircraft VL-3: Poor climb performance, It can, but will take a while to achieve 11,000ft.
Robin Cap 10: Long takeoff roll, okay climb performance.
Cessna 172: Okay takeoff performance, okay climb performance.

    Not Recommended:
ICON A5: Low speed, poor climb performance. Can reach 11,000ft in a slow climb.
Robin DR400/100 Cadet: Long takeoff roll/poor takeoff performance, poor climb performance.
Cessna 152: Poor climb performance. Can reach 11,000ft in a slow climb.
Zlin Aviation Savage Cub: Too slow for this flight, good takeoff and climb performance.

    Scenery
Default! Finally! We can all fly with the same scenery.

    Simulator Version
I will be flying on the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, Followers in FSX, P3D, and X-plane are always welcome.

    Multiplayer Server
For this first flight, we will fly on the East USA server.
At this time, JoinFS does not work well likely because the simconnect that is used(it causes major FPS loss).

    Weather & Time
Real world weather or fair weather if real world is not adequate.
If you would like to see the same time as me, set your time to 6PM Local/4:00PM UTC at Locarno.

Updated info for the flight in two days. Hope to see you there.
I prefer you to not pre-fly the flight, but the way to load the flight plan file is to...
            1. Open the World Map,
            2. On the bottom of the page click LOAD/SAVE,
            3. Once the message box appears, click LOAD,
            4. Then find the Rhein_1.pln file and open it.
All you have to do after this is choose your aircraft, possibly set up multiplayer settings, then join in for the flight!

I have updated some info on the main post.
Also, please use this guide to properly set up Multiplayer to connect with us. Use East USA Server(not west as shown).

There are two major settings that are required to see others that you intend to see. Server selection and Multiplayer settings.
Everyone needs to be on the same server. The default setting is Automatic(based on where you live).

You can choose to fly with everyone or in a group, in order to do this from the main menu Welcome screen, click World Map to start a new free flight, then in the top right corner, click the Flight Conditions box. Next, click on All players.

                    Notes:
Live Players selection is not recommended for most cases. It only allows you to fly with users that have real world settings and locks these settings.
Group Only can be useful if hosting a flight(It currently seems to have limitations of 6 people total). This will allow the server to not show any planes other than those in the group.
