  • Around the World Lap 5 - --- Episode 30: Cutting up the Sandwitch isles- 1778 Hawaii --Thu 9pm eastern

Hi pilots! Looks like its time for another Thursday trip back in time!

    From Wikipedia:
On January 18, 1778 British Captain James Cook and his crew, while attempting to discover the Northwest Passage between England and Asia, encountered the Hawaiian islands and were surprised to find a Polynesian island so far north in the Pacific. He named them the "Sandwich Islands", after the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Members of this expedition described the population of the islands as abundant, handsome and healthy. Unfortunately the British brought many new infectious diseases to the islands, in particular tuberculosis and venereal diseases that quickly propagated through the locals.

On Thursday night we will set the singularity drive to new years day 1778 so that we can deliver medicines and antibiotics throughout the Hawaiian islands two weeks before the arrival of Captain Cook and crew.

    Thursdays flightplan is as follows:

    Honolulu Intl, Honolulu departure (PHNL)
    Molokai, Kaunakakai (PHMK)
    Lanai City, Lanai (PHNY)
    Hana, Hana (PHHN)
    Waimea-Kohala, Kamuela (PHMU)

A flightplan .PLN file for this flight can be found here:
    http://1drv.ms/1O4aN5s

This flight will take place using JoinFS!

    Aircraft:
This is an amphibian flight as we will be doing regular landings, touch -n- go's, and water landings.
We will be flying between 2,000 ft. and 4,000 ft. at 150 KIAS.
I will be flying the great OZX HD/HP Goose, but feel free to bring any amphibian that can maintain 160 KIAS. Obviously the Smeiman Stingray is another great choice.

    Happy landings,
    Lazer

    Hi Lazer,
If you have the OZ-X Goose files you may want to add it to the downloads as OZ-X is offline after a hack. JayKey is attempting to repair the site but is time limited.

X-Plane pilots have this 19.95 USD option:

          http://store.x-plane.org/Grumman-G21...age_p_177.html

BelGeode recorded a flight in it.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y00LXvfinz4

I don't think it's as atmospheric as the OZx option from a panels/textures/detail. And I really struggle with controlling it on land or sea for that matter - but that may just be my setup/lack of co-ordination/knowledge.

But it flies really well on my VR flights (with a joystick) - no HTC VIVE controller yoke yet

          keywords: Xplane, Grumman Goose, seaplane

edit : it flies OK - it seems to roll to the right for me and the guy below - and the aileron trim doesn’t seem to do much either. I will chase this up.
