  • Gooney Bird "Casual Friday" Group Flight

This is a "Casual Friday" flight using the your favorite FSX Gooney Bird/Douglas C-47/DC-3 aircraft.

This is a flight from Whitehorse (CYXY) in the Canadian Yukon to Juneau Intl (PAJN) in Alaska. Our indicated airspeed will be about 130 kts on average, but expect to be going somewhat faster from time to time.

WARNING FOR X-Plane pilots! Airport CBS4 does not exist in X-Plane scenery! The terrain there is NOT landable. In addition, the two nearby green areas are too short. It is possible, however, to land on the Haines Highway immediately west of the FSX airfield. The XP11 flight plan Gooney03.fms in Discord #group-flight-info will line you up for the road if you wish to attempt that! An alternative, if you have an amphibious DC3 is to land on nearby Kelsall Lake.

This is a hastily prepared alternate flight plan for tonight's group flight.

First I would like to express a Special Thank You to Storm for finding this problem!

      The options are:

      1. Use the original flight plan and just skip the landing at Mule Creek (CBS4)

      OR

      2. Use the alternate flight plan contained in this message, and fly it without really knowing how it will work.

We will decide this just before our flight by a consensus of the participants.

Thanks to all who participated in this group flight. For the record we used the first flight plan, and our pilots adjusted to the situation on the fly so to speak. Go job!

14 pictures flying the Aeroworx Douglas C-47 in X-Plane 11. This is the famous P3D build by Manfred Jahn, Jan Visser et al., ported to X-Plane by Johan van Wyk and Fred Stegmann (Aeroworx).
