  • Friday Night Flights: Airliners in the Andes w/ ATPJET-Karl

    Starting Airport: SKRG (Jose Maria Cordva - Rionegro, Columbia)

    Stops:
    SKBO -> SKCL - > SEQU

    This events' flight plan can be downloaded from the File Browser on Teamspeak for the channel: FREE FLIGHT LOBBY.

    Event notes from ATPJet:
    Don't try to takeoff heavy, especially at high elevations in a B-747. Reduce fuel to 50% or less. At that weight with default passenger/baggage load and 20 degrees of flaps the approach speed is 160 KIAS.

    Preferred Aircraft: Airliners!

    This flight will be in boxed edition.

    Karl's notes, 0030z 09 May 2015: ATPJET has had real life interfere with his plans to lead this flight. I've taken over the reins and will be leading you into the Andes mountains. Well perhaps over the Andes rather than into, but we'll have to see how it goes.

    A couple of things leading into the flight:
    • The clouds for the flight are generally in the "FEW" category. But there are enough to have the potential to cause problems for visual approaches.
    • I've created a flight plan the utilizes instrument approaches at each stop.
    • The glideslope at SBKC will have you touching down at numbers at the far end of the runway. Use it only as a guide until you can complete the approach visually
    • As Brain said, be mindful of weight. If you elect to use a larger heavier a/c, off load weight. Brain said he can fly this flight on 23% fuel in his 747.
