  • GREAT 48! Grand tour of US states. Week #30: Arkansas - 60ft wingspan max

Coast has kindly volunteered to lead this 200kt flight through Arkansas in small (less than 60ft wingspan/rotor) aircraft.

    Week 30: Arkansas
    KXNA>KBPK>M74>M99>KELD

    FLIGHT PLAN
    • All legs are GPS direct.
    • We'll change course on approach, according to surface wind.
Download the PLN flight plan file here.
Flight plan in tabular form, flight map and airport diagrams here.

    CRUISE
    Speed: 200 knots
    Altitude: As required.

    AIRCRAFT
Any aircraft, fixed or rotary wing, that:
    1. can sustain a steady 200 knot cruise, and
    2. has a wingspan or rotor diameter of less than 60 feet.
The default Kingair, Learjet and P-51 are obvious choices. The Spartan 7W Executive, Bede BD-5, Bristol Beaufighter, Sus Scrofa and Stingray from my OneDrive are all good choices. And there are many more.

    RESTRICTIONS
Strictly no aircraft with greater than 60ft wingspan or rotor diameter.

No sure what your wingspan is? Clicking the "Details" button on your Select Aircraft menu will often tell you. Failing that, Wikipedia is your friend. If you're still not sure, don't fly it.

    WHICH VERSION, CLASSIC OR STEAM?
We will be using Classic, not Steam. We will continue to use Classic in future weeks for the Great 48! until I can assure pilot security for the flight, at which point we'll include Steam in joint Classic/Steam flights, leaving no one behind!

    WEATHER
    To be decided.

    SCENERY
    Default OK.
Highly recommended: FSgenesis US landclass (inexpensive payware).
FTX Global 1.30 and Vector 1.20 good but optional (expensive payware).
Vector users please see recommendations here.

RECOMMENDED SCENERY ADDITIONS FOR FTX GLOBAL USERS
You can download the whole series of freeware FTX global airport packs here.
Two of our stops, KBPK and M74, are Orbx airports.:eagerness:

    THE FOLLOWING WEEK
On April 29th, we'll be flying around Shreveport, Louisiana, in blimps and zeppelins.

A small trivia question for the fight tonight

Normally, Storm has a graphic image trivia question, but I thought this trivia question might also be interesting.

Thanks for the pics guys! And for the good wishes, Sound. And especially to Coast for stepping in and leading the flight at just a few days notice. :eagerness:
