  • GREAT 48! Grand tour of US states. Week #26: Minnesota - HELICOPTERS!

Hovering over the land of 10,000 lakes.

    Week 26: Minnesota
    KSGS>MN63>KMKT>KFRM>KAXA

    FLIGHT PLAN
    • Although all legs are nominally GPS direct, we may break off to follow roads/rivers.
Download the PLN flight plan file here.
Flight plan in tabular form, flight maps and airport diagrams to come.

    CRUISE
    Speed: 90 knots
    Altitude: Low

    AIRCRAFT
Small slow helicopters. For example:I will be flying the Bell 47G skids

    RESTRICTIONS
    • No fixed-wing aircraft.
    • No fast or large helicopters.

    WHICH VERSION, CLASSIC OR STEAM?
We will be using Classic, not Steam. We will continue to use Classic in future weeks for the Great 48! until more critical add-ons are working, at which point we'll move to Steam.

    WEATHER
Server specified default is OK. However...
Recommended: Real-world live weather generators, e.g. FSrealWX lite or Active Sky Next.
    • FSrealWX lite is freeware available in our TeamSpeak file browser. Why not try it?
    • Active Sky Next is payware.
I'll be using real-world weather (Active Sky Next).

    SCENERY
    Default OK.
Highly recommended: FSgenesis US landclass (inexpensive payware).
FTX Global 1.30 and Vector 1.20 good but optional (expensive payware).
Vector users please see recommendations here.

RECOMMENDED SCENERY ADDITIONS FOR FTX GLOBAL USERS
You can download the whole series of freeware FTX global airport packs here.
All airports except MN63 are Orbx airports.:eagerness:

Reminder: Bring your small slow chopper to KSGS for a 9pm eastern departure!

Trivia: What have fish, peas, corn, mayo and chocolate to do with our flight tonight? Answers and guesses during the flight itself please.

End of flight at Algona - next to a local cropduster... which confirmed our idea for next week.
