  • GREAT 48! Grand tour of US states. Week #22: Indiana - 260 kt singles

Whoosh around the Hoosier state in singles.

    Week 22: Indiana
    KLOU>KSIV>KLAF>KPLD>I69

    FLIGHT PLAN
    • All legs are GPS direct.
    • We will fly in preset fair weather.
    • We'll change course on approach, according to surface wind.
Download the PLN flight plan file here.
Flight plan in tabular form, flight maps and airport diagrams here.

    CRUISE
    Speed: 260 knots
    Altitude: 3,000 ft

    AIRCRAFT
Single engined aircraft capable of steady 260 kt cruise at 3,000 ft, with takeoff and landing rolls of no more that 3,500 ft.
    Examples of suitable aircraft:
    • Storm's OneDrive: BD-5J, Sus Scrofa, Stingray.
    • Default: P-51.
    • Payware: Lanceair Legacy (RealAir Simulations).

    RESTRICTIONS
No aircraft with more than one engine.

    WHICH VERSION, CLASSIC OR STEAM?
We will be using Classic, not Steam. We will continue to use Classic in future weeks for the Great 48! until more critical add-ons are working, at which point we'll move to Steam.

    WEATHER
Server specified default only, set to fair weather (because of forecast low cloud)

    SCENERY
    Default OK.
Highly recommended: FSgenesis US landclass (inexpensive payware).
FTX Global 1.30 and Vector 1.20 good but optional (expensive payware).
Vector users please see recommendations here.

RECOMMENDED SCENERY ADDITIONS FOR FTX GLOBAL USERS
You can download the whole series of freeware FTX global airport packs here.
KLOU, KLAF, KPLD and I69 are all Orbx freeware airports.

Reminder and trivia! Join us in your single for our 9pm departure from KLOU tonight. I will fly the Bede BD-5J from my Modern Oddities Hangar.

Trivia question: (Answers and guesses during the flight itself please.)

Weather update. I will be flying server default weather (set to fair), not real-time weather, due to forecast low cloud throughout the flight in real-time. I recommend NOT using Active Sky Next or FSrealWXLite for this particular flight.

Great shots, was the mustang the aircraft of choice for this?

I would estimate there were roughly equal numbers each of Mustangs, BD-5Js and Stingrays, plus two or three Legacies and a few other oddities.
